king of nowhere
I don't remember ever seeing a word of brandon about it anywhere. Hoid is always around for cosmere-important events, and the ascension of rashek definitely qualifies. As far as we know, hoid was already around at the time. So, did Hoid get involved in Alendi's quest and the events that ultimately lead to the ascension of the lord ruler? Or was he caught by surprisee as he failed to see the changed prophecies? And what was his plan for scadrial? Was hoid trying to help alendi, or did he favor rashek because he already figured what needed to happen one thousand years later? If we don't know, that' definitely something someone should ask brandon.
killersquirrel59 he/him
I always thought that Hoid might have inserted himself among Alendi's followers going up to the Well, but have been surprised by Rashek's betrayal at the end. Being there that would explain where he found out about Lerasium. It is noted he has a nugget, though as far as I know it's not noted where he got it. Hell, he could have placed himself as one of Rashek's initial supporters all being given Lerasium then just scarpered off with it rather than eating it to become Mistborn. A Joe in the Bush
We have a WoB somewhere that Hoid was also surprised by Rashek moving the well of Ascension, just like vin and Sazed were. Let me see if I can Find it.
king of nowhere
hoid got his lerasium from the well of ascension shortly before vin. when, in the second book, vin comes into the well, she sees footprints. we have wob somewhere that those were hoid's. so there were two lerasium beads, hoid got the first and vin the second. Raisen he/him
Well, if Hoid was alive during Adonalsium, then he must have been around during the creation of Scadrial and TLR's ascension. He could have been away at the time, looking for action, but being in the wrong place. It has been said that Hoid has Feruchemy, so he could have gotten it from being around Terris for a time. It's entirely plausible that Hoid was at the ascension; it would have been quite a show watching an entire world change in a short amount of time. A Joe in the Bush
Hoid got to the well of Ascension Right Before Vin did. That's how he got a bead of Lerasium.
Lord Tavash Shar
We have a WoB some where that Hoid has not lived through the whole time sense Adonalsium was shattered. Some sort of Time skip or Hibernation effect. Its very possible that he was in this state while TLR was killing alendi and Ascending. Hoid Admitted to not knowing everything and/or being blind sided by events in WoR so its not a far stretch that he could have been asleep or elsewhere during during Alendis time. king of nowhere
he may have simply failed at his plan. after all, the only apparent thing he does is talk to important people and encourage them to not give up in the face of overwhelming odds. as modus operandi go that's hardly foolproof. and his line about "being willing to let roshar burn" to reach his goal make me think he would not be above favoring rashek.
Oudeis he/him
As Nowhere mentioned, Hoid isn't necessarily a good person. He has his own goals, and they don't always align with those of the protagonists of any individual book. There's been WoB on it, and the semi-canonical deleted prologue to Emperor's Soul, showing the levels he's willing to go to in order to accomplish his own goals. Just something to mention, as some people have mentioned that he'd only support Rashek because he knew what would happen in a thousand years to make everything better; "make everything on Scadrial better" might not be his goal.
