Eerongal he/him Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 [edit][ooc] Eerongal, could you put the doors (or some marks) on the picture, so we could differentiate between them?[/ooc] They're on the picture all ready. Northern wall, D4 and D10
Eerongal he/him Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 After making a thorough check of both doors, Turjan walks back to the party and says, "Well, the western most door isn't trapped, but the eastern one is. Appear to be some sort of magical trap, it looks fairly complex, might be sort of dangerous to try to disable it, but I'll give it a shot if we want. I think it resets, too, not sure specifically how, probably when the door shuts. Neither door seems to be locked. Oh, also, the western most door smells funny...Take that for what you will."
Satsuoni he/him Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Seynir "Do you recognize the smell?" I go to the indicated door and sniff at it. [ooc] what skill is that? Knowledge: odors?[/ooc]
Eerongal he/him Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 Seynir "Do you recognize the smell?" I go to the indicated door and sniff at it. [ooc] what skill is that? Knowledge: odors?[/ooc] "Not off hand, but it's hard to tell with the door in the way. It's fairly faint." (Give me just a general knowledge check, 1D20+int modifier)
Eerongal he/him Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 19 The smell is very pungent and hard to identify given how faint it is at the door itself. If you had to go out on a limb, you would guess that its either a very pungent mold or fungus, or some other form of decay, potentially even rotted carcasses.
Satsuoni he/him Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Seynir I address the party : "Smells like rot in there, and it should be fairly strong inside if I can feel it through the door. Not sure what is rotting though. Do you think we shall check what is inside, or try the trapped door? "
Tulir he/him Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Striax "That depends. Places guarded by traps often are more dangerous and have more treasure, while undefended doors are less dangerous. I vote for the untrapped door."
Thor he/him Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Sael "What should we do about the orcs? Once we think that through we can decide on what door to choose. We should at the very least ask them how long they have been in here and if they have entered either of the rooms."
Emeralis00 she/her Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Umieri[\i] "I doubt they will tell us anything. Personaly I don't care which door we go through."
Satsuoni he/him Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) Seynir "I agree with Umieri, but you can ask them if you like, Sael. I think we should start with untrapped door, but be careful, and hold your breath when you open it. I think somebody proficient in the melee should open the door, in case of ambush." I position myself at G5, and change orientation so I would be able to see inside the door when it is opened. Edited April 9, 2012 by Satsuoni
Tulir he/him Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 (edited) Striax I nock an arrow and move to F7 where I can still see the door. Edited April 13, 2012 by Tulir
Thor he/him Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Sael "Very well. The untrapped door gets my vote, as well. As soon as everyone is ready, I will open the door and move in." I position myself at the front of the door and wait for everyone else to get into position.
Emeralis00 she/her Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 (edited) Umieri Umieri moves to the side of the door, out of a direct line of fire but near enough to provide support. Edited April 13, 2012 by Emeralis00
Eerongal he/him Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 Even before you opened the door you could smell that something was amiss. Now that it is open, the smell is overwhelming. The source is more than a score of bodies piled up in the room, their flesh rotting away. Everyone within 3 squares of the door who wasn't holding their breath as Satsuoni warned needs to give me fort saves vs. sickened. Everyone holding their breath (it doesn't look like any one said they did, but I'll be generous this time and allow you to declare it post-opening if you want) is fine for as long as they can hold it (a number of rounds equal to your constitution modifier)
Emeralis00 she/her Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Umieri "Wait! I didn't hold my-" The foul smell exuding from the doorway hit Umieri. FORT: 21

Emeralis00 she/her Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 (edited) Umieri Foolish mistake, and mistakes could kill here. Umieri looks for any hostile presences. Spot: 16 EDIT: changed the second could to kill Edited April 14, 2012 by Emeralis00
Satsuoni he/him Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 [ooc]Constitution modifier? Does that mean that I can't hold my breath even for 10 seconds, since mine is 0? What does that mean for people with negative mods? Anyway, I seem to be just beyond the 3 squares. My next action is inspired by some book from suvudu cage match . I assume Umieri or Sael had a torch. [/ooc] Seynir I hold my breath as the door opens, but the stench is still palpable. I cut off part of my robe's sleeve, dip part of it into acetic acid, fold it so that the acid layer would be covered from both sides, and tie the cloth over my mouth and nose. I take a few shallow breaths at first to acclimate myself to the vinegar stench, then look into the room: 5, but can't distinguish anything beyond the pile of corpses.

[/ooc] (heh, actually that should be con score, not modifier Also, Turjan is holding a torch, at the moment as an FYI ) Umieri and Seynir You notice nothing more than a pile of corpses Anyone who is trained (has one rank) in the heal skill. Based on your knowledge of the medicinal arts, you know that based on the decay in this room, it is likely to be rife with diseases. Anyone not trained in the heal skill can attempt a DC 5 wisdom check to make this connection as well.
Satsuoni he/him Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 [ooc]I didn't make it 4 [/ooc] Seynir "Anything interesting in there, such as another door? I cannot see well from here. If not, I suggest we close this door to get rid of the stench, and try another one."
Emeralis00 she/her Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 (edited) Umieri "Stay out of the room. Its likely full of disease, and as I said previously, I can't heal disease.¨ EDIT: formatting issues Edited April 14, 2012 by Emeralis00
Satsuoni he/him Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Seynir "Thank you for the warning," I say, my words somewhat muffled by the rag over my mouth, "I should have thought of it myself. Just.. close the door then, since you are standing right by it."
Tulir he/him Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Striax I overcome the stench long enough to say, "Please, just please shut that door!!"
