My WIP novela

So I originally wasn't going to post this here, due to it being very heavily and obviously inspired by Brandon's stuff, but after browsing I see that lots of other stuff here is too. (Still, I did steal quite a few names admittedly)

I have 7 chapters so far, so I'll post 1 every so often, tell me what you think. (I'm naturally editing this still, and writing it)

Here's the prologue, hope you all like it

In the Beyond, the light didn’t destroy the wraiths. There, the sun was deep purple, and the moon could not be seen. The people of Xefluera under their king were sent into the Beyond for the tiniest crime. Because so many people were sent there, they set up a little settlement, with some small tents. If they foolishly went off the path, the wraiths would quickly swarm on them. Mai knew all of this, when being taken, and her heartbeat was racing. She was found attempting to steal the Staff of the Second Sun. She didn’t know what its significance was, but knew it could fetch her quite a bit of money. However, she was foolish, she forgot to make sure not to be around sewers when discussing her plan with her partner in crime, Shai, and was ambushed. She was thrown past the gates, and onto the barren dirt that made up the Beyond, and found three more people walking up to her. “Are you… the Master-Thief?” Mai sighed, although somewhat happy to have a chance to explain. “I never came up with that name, and the real reason I could steal the crown of the king himself, was because the so-called ‘Master-Thief’ is actually 2 women, not 1. But no matter, how do I survive? I only need to survive here until Shai comes to rescue me.” The three people look at each other apprehensively. “Master-Thief… no one has ever survived for more than a year or so, and it’s not likely any of us will survive for a few more weeks. But, I suppose if anyone could escape this place, it would be you” Mai scoffed “Shai could get me out with only a month to prepare, and please tell me what makes the next few weeks so dangerous” The oldest of the three pointed to the sky. “That” he said, with a somber look on his face. Mai looked, and what she saw confused, then after some thought, horrified her. The moon, only a crescent, red. “Oh no…”. The wraiths were attracted to heat, and couldn’t enter an area that is too cold. They suck out the heat of people, freezing them forever. The people of the Beyond use these corpses to stop the wraiths from coming into their homes. But she had studied her fair share of science, she understood that the moon, if it was full, would heat the Beyond up ever so slightly, allowing the wraiths to go anywhere, and kill every single human there. “This… could be a problem”
 

Also I know this looks bad, I'll do line editing and such later
