“So… what now?”

"I don't know. Are you hungry? I can have a servant bring us something to eat."

"That'd be nice, I am kinda hungry."

Aubrey rang a bell and a servant came over. "Get us some sauerkraut," Aubrey said, "and some Jägerschnitzel." She turned to Owen. "What would you like?"

"A lamb pie? But a small one." Owen said, "Thank you."

The servant nodded and went back down the hall.

"Do you have any..um...hobbies?" Aubrey asked.

"I enjoy... uh... I play the harpsichord and... uh... enjoy archery. I also read."

"Oh. I used to love books, when I was young. But now, all Mother lets me read are textbooks for my studies."

"That's... I'm sorry. My parents allow me a lot of free time. My studies... Well, I do well in Latin and science, not as well in history or geography."

"Oh I love geography...so many of our maps are inaccurate. I love making my own versions but they never come out very good. I'm horrible at learning languages, so my Latin and French struggle a lot. You'd think being fluent in two languages would make it easier."

"You're fluent in two languages? Which ones?"

“English, obviously, and German, which is Mother’s first language. She comes from Hapsburg and I was raised bilingual. My English is better, though.”

"How interesting." Owen said. "I always wished I could speak German."

“Perhaps I can teach you.”

Once again having my RP character offer to teach something I have no knowledge of

And that I do have knowledge of.

Coincidence?

I THINK NOT!

"That would be quite swell."

Ooo swell...

I'm so fancy.

“What sort of books do you read?” Aubrey asked, sounding genuinely curious.

Perhaps your knowledge is subconsciously psychically influencing my RP.

It makes sense. I am quite telepathetic.

"I read fictitious novels by the famous Lord B. Sanderson." Owen says, "Along with some books in other genres."

“Ah yes, fiction.” A look comes into Aubrey’s eyes, one of joyful remembrance of the past. “I used to love fiction. Of course, I don’t have time for that anymore. Too much to do, especially with the star.”

"Yes, of course." Owen said, "Now we only have time to wish we had magic, that could save us. That would happen in a book."

“I mean, we do. I do, at least. Not a lot of help in situations like these to be able to see farther, though.”

“Yes, my brother and grandfather have it too. My brother has perfect pitch because of it and my grandfather can talk to chickens. Runs in my father’s family.”

“You could. It’s most common in London, but probably also fairly common in Scotland. Happens less and less often the farther you get from the city. Not very much in Hapsburg. It comes from the Star.”
