Thorondir Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 (edited) I read this on twitter updates on homepage and found it pretty interesting. Zas678 he/him Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 If you want some more details, go to the home page and read this month's week, I meant week, Around the Cosmere. It's got some more information about the game. EDIT- *sigh* I need more sleep.... Oh, and you accidentally posted this topic twice, so I deleted the other one.
prehistoricman Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Dang...can't wait for the official announcement. I'm looking forward to this (though I hope the devs make sure the pc controls work just fine as well).
Link Von Kelsier Harvey he/him Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I hope they're developing for the WiiU as well. I don't want to be left out in the cold.
Ilidsor Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I think I heard that it's coming out in 2013, but don't quote me on that.
Exile he/him Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Do we have any speculation on the system, story or style?
Thor he/him Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Do we have any speculation on the system, story or style? IIRC, it's on 360, PS3 and PC. Story takes place ~200 years after the Lord Ruler's ascension, though no idea other than that (and Sanderson is writing it). That time frame leaves a lot of options for the story, anywhere from a House War to subterfuge to a full war with large armies. I don't think we have anything style-wise.
Windrunner he/him Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 One thing to keep in mind about this, is that the Lord Ruler wasn't in complete control of the Final Empire yet. Resistance lasted for several centuries. I would love to rebellion and battle, but if we do it will likely be confined to the city. That's where Allomancy is at its finest, and Mistborn is designed to be urban fantasy after all.
Zas678 he/him Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Another thing- the Hero is snarky. Brandon said that he'll be coming up with a lot of the in-game dialogue on the back of napkins as he thought about them. He'll write out the cutscenes like normal though.
Deus Ex Biotica Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 One thing to keep in mind about this, is that the Lord Ruler wasn't in complete control of the Final Empire yet. Resistance lasted for several centuries. I would love to rebellion and battle, but if we do it will likely be confined to the city. That's where Allomancy is at its finest, and Mistborn is designed to be urban fantasy after all. I had assumed that the game would be a doomed attempt to stop the Lord Ruler (or, as they knew him then, The Conqueror) from taking over the world, probably ending with sending some sort of hope into the future (which might tie in to some plot point from the original trilogy, or even foreshadow events in a later one).
Eric Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I'm hoping to be able to support the Lord Ruler, if I so choose. He might have been an extremist bastard, but he was trying to save the world.
Deus Ex Biotica Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 This is all starting to sound like The Force Unleashed: Mistborn Edition.
KChan she/her Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 The announcement hasn't even been made yet, so it's no surprise we can't pre-order it yet. We'll get more information soonish, I think, though.
Exile he/him Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 When this game is played I doubt you'll be able to play as separate Mistings. You'll play one central character who is Mistborn. I'd put money on that, unless somebody has a source that says otherwise.
KChan she/her Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 This soon after the Ascension, I'd say you'd almost definitely be a Mistborn. Mistings might not even exist at this point.
Deus Ex Biotica Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Technically, weak Mistings existed even before the Ascension (Alendi was a Seeker, after all), but I agree - it would be silly to make a game such as this and not have the main character be a Mistborn.
LevenThumps Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 When I first heard about this game, I pictured a first person shooter game Mistborn style
Deus Ex Biotica Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Really? Since the core thematic of Mistborn's magic has been repeatedly stated to be "two figures spinning through the mist," I would assume something with a bunch of Iron and Steel-driven platforming, and (as Mirror's Edge showed us) that plays better in third person, as a rule.
KChan she/her Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Yeah, first person doesn't seem to really fit Mistborn's style.
SOM1else he/him Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Do we know who's developing it? I haven't heard anything about it other than it's happening. I want to take a shot in the dark and guess that Ubisoft has picked it up for the sole reason that every time I imagine the MB video game I picture something incredibly similar to Assassins Creed, but with magic.
KChan she/her Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 The announcement is forthcoming. We won't know any specific details until then.
RJWB0mb Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 so is it this month its being announced? and any links to wheres the info is coming from?
