Your opinions requested on http://www.17thshard.com/wiki/Template:CharacterInfobox

Any other fields needed? Any changes before I start adding it to pages?

While we're at it any comments on the other ones I've made:

http://www.17thshard.com/wiki/Template:Books

http://www.17thshard.com/wiki/Template:Move

http://www.17thshard.com/wiki/Template:Stub

And finally are there any templates that you would like to see made?

Thank you for your time and happy editing.

One I've just thought of--Spoiler free?

On the whole, the wiki is going to be chock full of spoilers - there's no good way to make it otherwise.  But it makes sense to me to have some pages (such as a page about a book) that are at least relatively spoiler free--they contain no plot information that you wouldn't expect to get by spending the same amount of time reading the back cover, front pages, etc. in a bookstore/library while browsing.  Making a clear delineation of what pages don't contain spoilers will make it easier while editing and nicer for people who are just trying to find out what this 'Elantris' book that the guy who finished WoT is about.

Maybe we should make this a category as well, so it's easily searchable.  What do you guys think?

So this did post. I never could find this again.

Sure, I'll create it (or you can if you get there first). I am mildly disturbed by the concept of "Spoiler-free" as restricting information.

I support the idea of keeping synopses of books to what might be gleaned from the blurbs etc. but in some ways things like the character lists or other links themselves may reveal spoilers. I'm happy to have it for the moment but I think if ever there is a conflict between information on a page and maintaining the spoiler freeness of the page then the spoiler free tag won't know what hit it.

Summary: Great for now as long as it doesn't get in the way of good articles (for books at least that should be easyish).

(I may have just reiterated your argument. Oops.)

For the books pages, this can be solved mainly by putting a smaller blurb at the top of the page, and putting the synopsis under a heading named, well, Synopsis. Anyone who doesn't want the book spoiled would automatically know not to read something they've just been told summarizes the events of the book.

I've changed the auto-category from "Books" to "Characters". Individual character pages do not belong in the "Books" category.
