ulyssessword he/him Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 How does a Lurcher or Coinshot affect a metal ring that is set perfectly so their center of mass goes through the open hole in the middle? The center of mass of the metal would be in a location that has no metal. I always assumed that instead of pushing against a point that was in the centre of the metal, is pushed on the entire object at once (which can be approximated as pushing against the centre of mass). That would mean for a coinshot pushing against a ring, it would attempt to stretch it outwards, while a lurcher would attempt to collapse it inwards.
whynaut Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 (edited) On a side note, do Lurchers/Coinshots magically effect metal or do they magically effect magnetism? Edited January 17, 2012 by whynaut
CrazyRioter she/her Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 it's metals, otherwise it would mostly only work on ferrous metals and it clearly works on almost any metal.
spacemonkey he/him Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Also, it is possible to push on somewhere other than the center of mass; this can be seen in Final Empire when Kelsier pushes and pulls on opposite ends of metal bars simultaneously to make them rotate extremely quickly.
