Phoenix focuses on the heat in the air and uses it to ignite a spark in the centre of his palm, and using his fire manipulation, makes it grow to be about the size of a head, but reduces the heat to not burn himself or anyone close. Only a smidgen though, he liked being on the warmer side.

"No" he thinks "that won't happen here." His powers go wild the ball of fire suddenly stretching into the shape of a young boy crying on his knees. "NO!" his fireball suddenly fizzles out and he collapses clutching his head. Quote Can my character have a minor boon where his backpack is actually an extra-dimensional greenhouse where he keeps a bunch of super large plants so that he can use them for stuff or can students not have boons. Derek strode forward quickly, though carefully, to Qoorith, placing his free hand on the boy's shoulder. Qoorith felt a moment of calm. "Are you alright?"

He looks at the other boy with new eyes, What power!

I'm semi worried that I'm laying the trauma on a bit too thick here but, I just couldn't stop. I had none of this planned, it all just flowed out and now I have an uber traumatized 13 year old. Phoenix rolls his eyes not the balefire, he says to himself. It is harmless when you can control it, it is just people who are unexperienced. He glances towards the teacher who seems to be keeping an eye on him, eagle eye, he says to himself, and files out of the cave.

He begins walking to his next class Plant 101 when he suddenly hears a BOOM at the end of the hallway. He rushes down to make sure no-one is hurt. Quote purposefully left ambiguous so that others can react (definitely not because I couldn't think of anything). It's open for anyone to say what the sound was because I didn't think that far ahead.
