Reiyeka she/her Posted June 18, 2014 Report Share Posted June 18, 2014 Hmm, I personally thought their old site was pretty dated, so the refresh is pretty...refreshing. But I do miss the big, tall images, now they are shorter in the carousel, but the slides are nice so they can feature more artwork in rotation. The artwork is always so wonderful, so I wish they went even bigger! For the navigation, that is a style that is pretty trendy right now. (I work as a web designer, and I did something pretty similar on one of my last projects) But I think what makes it difficult is that there are 3 tiers of naviation. Typically to make that one work, you want to keep it simple with only 2 tiers, less rollover problems. But overall, I think its a step in the right direction, makes their brand feel modern and current. My first reaction to their old site was, "Do people still play Magic? Do I want to get into this?" Factoring that in, and the fact that I finally figured out navigation, its much better than the old site. You want to be able to really quickly check stuff, and it seems to be less easy to do that just due to the background. It's all very well that everything looks sleek and all, but I preferred the white background because it made things easier to read. The main website did need an update, and it looks alright. A bit difficult to navigate at first, but no worse than before. The deck stat stuff is rather interesting and useful, though not something I will be using much of personally. The sample hand feature is really nice, and should help people actually understand how a deck plays compared to others.
