Quiver he/him Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Quick question/discussion; what motivates you to write? What makes you want to write, and wants makes you start writing when you need a kick to get started? Do you have any rituals, or habits or tics you need to indulge to make it happen?
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Usually, Timers. Whenever I really want to Write (Or just Have a good Idea) I set a Timer for an Hour and just Write. I'm not allowed to Stop until the Timer is Done.
+Quitecontrary she/her Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Usually, Timers. Whenever I really want to Write (Or just Have a good Idea) I set a Timer for an Hour and just Write. I'm not allowed to Stop until the Timer is Done. This is so effective. I use the Pomodoro Technique myelf and instead of an online timer, I use an old fashioned kitchen timer. Work for 25 minutes, break for 5, then another 25 minute chunk. I also try to eliminate as many distractions as possible (like 17th, but it's really hard, so I use another computer to write which I disconnect from the net when I'm about to write.
WriteNowDave he/him Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 My rituals are rather simple yet extremely difficult to obtain. Being a father of two young-ins and a wife who...shall we say... isn't very self sufficient, the only thing I need is time.
