But I've already done a dinosaur POV. You don't want the big raptor to suffer Villain Decay, do you? :P

(It would be pretty dark and disturbing to have Funtimes cheerfully traveling with an absurd pet that's secretly locked in an "And I Must Scream" state, wouldn't it? It would be a real shame if someone were to canonize that morbid thought...)

At least she would treat it well, unlike a certain someone who keeps his pets locked in their own mausoleum and only allows them out to feast on human flesh. :P And if she thought it was unhappy, she would release it into the wild, like Mister Hamsterface, who is much happier as a wild hamster than he ever was as a pistol belonging to a sadistic precog. ;)

Wait... I know what must be done here.

The Pack, a Raptor x Puligatoroospider story

The big male raptor stood motionless, eyes and nostrils taking in information about his world. A small cluster of mammals passed by, chittering in those high-pitched voices of theirs. But he wasn't interested in any of the two-legged beasts that wandered by. Instead, he felt his foggy attention directed towards the thing that traveled with them.

If he had full control of his own body, the raptor would have strode over to get a better look. The creature looked like a haphazard mix of many different animals the raptor had come across in his travels. There was a smell of carnivorous mammal to it, mixed with a herbivore smell he'd never experienced before. There were whiffs of the crocodiles and spiders he remembered from his rainforest home. Not this rainforest--his first home. The one he'd hatched in, that had been his home all those years ago.

But quite aside from the impossible smells he caught from the animal, there was something else in the animal's gait that tugged a peculiar emotion in the raptor's heart. It wasn't free. Its mannerisms were those of a prisoner within its own body.

Just like the raptor itself. With an effort, slowly coming to ignore the mammal voice that chittered in his head, the raptor cocked his head and made eye contact with the other beast. For a moment, they understood each other. They both had alien minds in their heads, dominating them.

For a second, it was like being in a pack again.

The raptor's snout was quivering as the female mammal with the bright colors motioned at the mix-and-match creature, causing it to turn its back and leave. The raptor watched helplessly as the only creature it could sympathize with was ushered away from him.

But a new sense of determination burned in his heart. He would find that strange little animal. Together they would make a new pack. And together, they would slay every mammal that dared to raise their chittering voices in their presence.

Awwww, it's a really murderous OTP! Heartwarming, in an extremely terrifying way.

....

Maybe it'd be safer if Funtimes did without a guard dog. Having her absurd pet and it's soul mate kill all the characters would be an unsatisfying and anticlimactic ending. Which I may or may not secretly want to see as we glimpse the rise of a raptor and Chimeran society from the ashes of post apocalyptic Oregon.

Planet of the Apes has nothing on us. B)

(Really though, as any ecologist will tell you, these kinds of alterations to the animal population will eventually have major effects. I mean, what if Chimerans are capable of breeding with unaltered animals? What if Lightwards really does end up releasing dinosaurs into the wild? Inter-Epic battles are an inefficient way of destroying Oregon. Having nature itself turn on the human race, churning out legions of mutated and extinct horrors to rampage among survivors... that would destroy the state far quicker than the Empire and CorpseMaker bumping heads together.)

No kidding. All of those apex predators, which modern herbivores and predators have no defenses against, roaming the countryside in search of food and shelter, knowing only to take it by any means necessary? Jeez, all of this fridge horror is making me—

Wait. I know what this is! You seek revenge for the Funtimes/Mobius team-up! In your state of terror, you unleash all the fridge horror your mind hath wrought! But just you wait, my friend. Just you wait for Remington's backstory.

I shall pay you back for all the fridge horror you have unleashed upon me….for he is coming. :P

Oh, so it will come down to a nightmare battle, will it? Just you wait. Sam's backstory has some pretty horrifying moments too. Moments to make your skin crawl.

And behold, the combined horror of this RP will make other players weep in despair, and not a single one of us will have an undisturbed night's sleep for the rest of our lives.

(Also, when I look into that alicorn's smile for too long, I feel like he's slowly drawing out my soul.)

Oh, good. I was worried I'd made Remington's backstory a little too hardcore. Looks like I'm right on track! :P

And then we take all of our terrifying characters to the Halloween RP, and no one sleeps again.

(That's the idea. Though not your soul, exactly…. )

I reread the book, and Megan's account is that everything was devastated.  Flattened trees and the like.  The CorpseMaker fight might take down a significant portion of the city, for Oregon to truly fall there needs to be something more momentous.  I am all for releasing dinosaurs into the wild.  Dinosaurs are awesome!  And they would wreck with the environment.

Good point.

And wait... Megan said she grew up in Portland. She personally witnessed what happened in Oregon. Is she actually present in the city at the time of this RP?

If so, Twi, I'd suggest a Megan POV scene for the game's epilogue. If we're thinking that far ahead.

Having her be an innocent bystander until the end when she gets her Epic powers, then a POV would be cool.

Wasn't Firefight with Steelheart from the beginning, though? Or did she join later on? I don't have the book near me, so I'm honestly not sure...

I don't think that Firefight was with him from the beginning, I think it was early in Steelheart's reign.  I'll check tomorrow, if someone hasn't by then

I thought it was either right from the start or during the early years. I'd set this RP around eight years after Steelheart took power, though, thinking that, for Oregon to be completely devastated but not widespread public knowledge, it would have to have happened within the last two to three years of the events in Steelheart. I figured Megan would have known about it, but not necessarily been there when it happened.

Nightwielder was there from day 1, Firefight and Conflux joined later, although probably not as late as this.

Don´t worry, Corpsemaker is only the start.

As for the Megan timeline, while I don´t know when she joined exactly I can think of two reasons why it wasn´t immediately.

1) Can you immagine a 10-year old girl in Steelheart´s inner circle?

2)She joined him because of Newcago´s infrastructure compared to the rest of the fractured state. Not only does this mean she joined after Conflux was captured it also means that it was after the majority of the continent being turned into a hell hole by Epics.

As I can see TVtropes conquered this RP as well. Let´s see. I should trope Voidgaze, Nighthound and Lucentia.

For Lucentia, start by typing every synonym for "unpleasant" you know into the search bar. That should suffice.

I could do that but then her entry would be the same as Nighthound´s.

Talking about them being the same, does anyone else notice the parralels between Nighthound´s first meeting with Lightwards (and Funtimes but mostly Lightwards) and Funtimes with Lucentia?

She reminds me of some very unpleasant little girls from my school years.

Can we send her to an anti-bullying seminar led by Altermind?

Aha! I hadn't before, but I do now. Very nice. :D

We could but I don´t know if Altermind is the right man for the job, maybe Voidgaze could work as his assistant?

"Well, well, well. It seems some of you have been accused of hostile interactions with your peers. I won't waste time explaining the ethics of what you have done. I won't bother telling you to put yourself in the victim's shoes. Instead, just know that you will feel scorpions crawling down your clothes and orifices until you promise never to do it again."

I hadn't noticed the parallels either--but they are awesome! :D

That's a long time with the scorpions. Not that I'm complaining, mind you....:P

Indeed. :D

On an unrelated note, there is a YouTube series called "Epic Rap Battles of History." It kind of makes me wonder what sort if rhymes our Epics would use in such a battle....

I take it back Altermind is perfect for the job. :D

I know that one. There could be some very epic rhymes. *realizes the pun* That´s the first time I made that joke on accident. :P

I´ll come back when I have some ideas.

I'm actually re-writing a non-rap song at the moment to fit our Oregon Epics. I'll post it once I've gotten it plugged into the SSCS6000.

His methods are very effective, even if they would get him in trouble with the PTA. And the police. And the FBI. You know, it's probably best for everyone that none of those organizations exist in this universe.....
