Rereading Elantris

I started rereading Elantris and hoo boy does Hrathen's first chapter alone have lots of parallels between The Derethi and The Set after TLM. Makes me wonder if has planning Autonomy's motives back then too or if he was actively referencing how he wrote The Derethi as he was writing TLM.

On another note, for a Vessel who didn't pick up Ambition, Bavadin and her religions sure are obsessed with it. Corruption from when they killed Ambition maybe?

I think a lot of Hrathen's and Fjordell politics and actions are primarily influenced by the remnants of Dominion. Though, Bavadin probably did have fingers in some of it, she did not create all of it.

My guess based on this WOB is that Autonomy co-opted the Derethi religion, autonomy is Jaddeth. Or Jaddeth is an avatar of autonomy.

 Brandon has more or less confirmed Jaddeth is Autonomy. And a lot of Hrathen's thoughts in his introductory chapter could easily have come from a member of The Set.

Hrathen talks about needing ambition and that complacency is a sin sound like Autonomy's dogma. Also, unless there is a WoB that I'm not remembering, there never has been proof that Dominion was evil, just the fan theory based on the name
