Shardholder of Craft Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Maybe Jasnah's a member of Seventeenth Shard 1
Eri she/her Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Jasnah? No, not in the first book. And later we'll see.
Odium's_Shard Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 The only person who knows how to stop the Voidbringers dies mysteriously... Sounds like a plan.
name_here Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I would remove Vasher from consideration, since the Warbreaker AA seems to have been written by someone who was not familiar with the effects of the Eighth Heightening, specifically the ability to Awaken inorganics. Vasher would know perfectly well that it was definitely a real thing. 1
Thor he/him Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I would remove Vasher from consideration, since the Warbreaker AA seems to have been written by someone who was not familiar with the effects of the Eighth Heightening, specifically the ability to Awaken inorganics. Vasher would know perfectly well that it was definitely a real thing. While that could be true, if Vasher wrote it, he may have specifically been vague to distort his identity, as very few people have ever held the Eighth Heightening or even witnessed it. As so few have been at the Eighth Heightening (maybe just the Five Scholars and the Hallandren God Kings), it is quite possible that all of their names have been recorded. By being purposefully vague, Vasher may be trying to conceal his identity. Thinking about it, when the stone/steel section is taken into account, it may actually make more sense for Vasher to have written it: Vasher despises Nightblood (or rather, what Nightblood can/has done, and what things he has been forced to do because of it) and would purposefully obscure information that would lead to the creation of another Awakened steel object. Additionally, the knowledge that stone can be Awakened creeps a little too close to the actual identity of Kalad's Phantoms, which he has no desire to unleash upon the world again.
Aeshdan he/him Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I'm guessing that the 17th Shard agents are required to send reports back to 17th Shard HQ on what they find about the magic. That's what we're reading.
