yulerule Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 So iirc, Mistborn could see through the mists. So can Mistings, right? Do you know if Ferrings/Feruchemists can see through the mists as well? Anyway. Mists can power Allomancy, and according to WoB, Feruchemy as well if someone knows what they're doing. But it's interesting to me that mists seem to empower Mistings by more than just their metallic power: From BoM: Quote Out in the mists, he felt better almost immediately, and his hand—which had been smarting where the Terriswoman smacked his gun away—stopped throbbing. So does that mean that the Mists can provide just a touch of any of the powers? Brandon also said that a Misting's power is determined by genetics, and that Mists can empower and Snap someone who ordinarily wouldn't have enough allomantic potential. So does that mean, since all Mistings are descendants of full Mistborn, that they have like, 60% potential for their primary power and 1% or something for all the others. And the mists empower this one percent?

And the mists empower this one percent? Ok lots of notes on this. First off only Tineyes can see better in the mists, not all Mistings. Ferrings probably couldn't see through the mists because their powers aren't as strongly tied to preservation. That quote from BoM is special to Wax. Mists don't generically power every Misting, Wax is tied very close to Harmony and his earring is probably granting him slight pewter abilities. Mistings only have access to their powers, not any of the other ones. Yes Mists can power allomancy but preservation has to specifically allow it, that is not a something that an average Allomancer could do.
yulerule Posted September 27, 2022 Author Posted September 27, 2022 (edited) But see, that's the thing. Wax IS NOT wearing the earring at the moment. He's still angry at Harmony. And yes, the Mists favor Wax because Harmony as an eye on him, but he is still a Misting, and the Mists still seem to help him more. And yes, mists can power Allomancy, especially is the Shard is actively encouraging that. But can they grant minimal powers that a person doesn't even have? Edited September 27, 2022 by yulerule

Ok yes fair, Wax isn’t wearing the earring at the moment. The thing is though Wax might just feel more at peace and calm in the mists, so he stops noticing his hand. Also I don’t think you can base your theory off a guy who Harmony is messing with, Wax is the exception not the rule. If Wayne or Marasi showed powers in the mists you might have something but until then I don’t think you can have access to more than one power, excluding Hemalurgy and Harmony shenanigans.
yulerule Posted September 27, 2022 Author Posted September 27, 2022 Wax is an exception, absolutely. Harmony has his eye on him, and is giving him a helping <s>hand</s>mist. But even the exception cases have to follow some sort of rules or loopholes. So, yes, it could just be a placebo. But it could also be a hint of what's possible when you're one of God's favored. How the rules are broken is just as interesting.
