lukaash Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 I always read that Harmony is finding it harder and harder to act because there is an imbalance between the two powers. There is slightly more ruin than preservation inside of Harmony. I think this is a good thing. It is really hard to do something as just preservation. Ati says that Preservation would not be able have life because he would let it die. Mabye this unbalance is good for Harmony. It allows Sazed to do more against the evil instead of preserving that evil. I always think of how Preservation supported the lord ruler even though he wasn't the greatest guy simply for the fact that he hadn't changed in a while. Preservation preserves everything, even the evil forces that are trying to destroy him. Leras struggled to bring the knife down on Elend even though it seemed like the right move to do (Hindsight is 20/20, but in the moment, it wasn't a bad idea). With slightly more Ruin inside of Harmony, Sazed would be able to act more and do more things because he is allowed to change things. With Atium most likely growing back and Harmony becoming more balanced, Sazed losses the edge that he had to change things. This could also be why Sazed is talking about his inability to do things. He is too balanced now with shards of opposite intents.
Bort he/him Posted February 1, 2022 Posted February 1, 2022 I seem to recall hearing somewhere, WoB, I think, that he has trouble acting because of the conflict between his two Shards, and also, that the imbalance isn't as bad as you may think because he has a vessel on Scadrial where he can store his extra Ruin "essence" (Marsh).
