Can an allomancer burn a piece of metal that is held within a thin container, or has a thin coating? If so, then maybe this method could be used to burn Harmonium or Tanavastium, if the metal pieces were kept secure and didn’t break out.

Hmm, assuming the other metal was also Allomantically viable, you might be able to burn both the casing and the Harmonium (though obviously don't burn the casing first). If it was not Allomantically viable then don't swallow it, you'll get poisoning.

I think this has been asked before but I couldn't find any WoBs. I've probably seen this theory before then.

Actually, I was thinking along the lines of painting it, or putting it in wax or bread dough, then buring the metal without it physically touching your actual body. But if you coated it in another, allomantically viable metal, then maybe you could use duralumin to burn both metals before the Harmonium could blow up on you.

I think this would be viable (and not just because I had a similar theory some time ago). If coating a piece of metal was a concern, then someone with a full stomach might not be able to access their power. Or, they might have inconsistent access to their power as the metal pieces move around in their gut. However, the books never warned characters to only ingest their metals with an empty stomach. Also, I believe in Bands of Mourning Wax swallows metal that's suspended in oil. The oil coating on the metal flakes did not interfere with his allomancy.

Oh, I think that should work
