Aonic metalminds

Okay, so when a lightweaver makes an illusion, it can subsist on any surrounding stormlight. I was wondering, could an aon drawn by an elantrian subsist on the investiture within a metalmind? (My guess would be that a nicrosil mind with a blanked Identity would be the best bet for this to work.)

 If this is possible, you could create invested items that can have a variety of effects created by the Dor, but allow them to be carried and used far from Elantris itself.

Although, it seems like a device of this sort, if even possible, may prove short lived, as a metalmind can only hold so much investiture, and an aon needs to constantly burn more investiture to exist, or else it will fizzle out (also much like a lightweaving, actually). A new aon would need to be drawn in order to replace the old one, making this technique rather impractical if one wanted to create magical items for others to use, and impractical for elantrians themselves, as they could simply draw an aon any time they pleased so long as they have a valid power source.

it would probably be easier to get a perfect gem full of stormlight, coat it in glass, and etch the aons into that. there are cases in Elantris where an aon is inscribed onto a physical object and awaits activation (their lights, for one), so that part is doable. and in general you can do pretty much anything with Aons, provided you know how to combine and modify them to met the task.  they are, by far, the most all-purpose magic system w have seen so far. the main thing that isn't clear is how well they would be able to use a ferruchemically stored attribute.  I suspect if you wanted them to be able to tap/store into an unsealed metalmind you could make that work, but using the investiture in the metalmind as a power source might not, since that investiture has a specific "shape" already, defined by the metal it is stored in.  this is all pretty much speculation though.

I don't think that would work so easily, although it might. Elantrians can transport the dor offworld, and might be able to use alternate forms of investiture to fuel their powers, but I doubt it would be so easy as drawing an aon on a metalmind.
