How exactly did Kaladin do that? To that point of the novel, I don't remember Kaladin having ever first-Lashed an object that wasn't himself. Shards of Mist Posted March 11, 2014 Report Share Posted March 11, 2014 Szeth lashes Dalinar to the sky. Kaladin caught him and saved him. As for how he knew how to do it? He's already practiced on Lopen and Rock. He also practiced half lashings and multiple lashings on himself. Would be fairly easy to transfer those concepts to another. Plus, he's said the 3rd Ideal.
