  1. In the prologue of warbreaker, we see where vasher gets his breath for this book, along with this small paragraph “Vasher could, of course, have up to the fifth Heightening at any time, if he wished. That would require certain sacrifices he wasn’t willing to make.” So what is this? Do we know and did I just forget? How would he do this?
  2. Calderis, I don't think it would be nothing. I mean why write it into the book? Why make gaz insane. I mean when we could look at mad men as being able to communicate with shards. Like with ruin and kelsier was able to communicate with mad men from the cognitive realm. That could be a reason, but personally I think the parshendi blood or he is a radiant.
  3. Anna, If we take the possibility of gaz being a radiant out of it, we'd have to presume gaz was a horneater, or had extremely weak genes of one. Now it could be possible, however you have gaz as lanky, dark haired, and he doesn't seem to have any of the typical horneater idiosyncrasies. I mean there could be something else that can sense spren, I mean taravaniga's intelligence is quite interesting.
  4. @Toaster Retribution I can't really add anagram on as there isn't much supporting it at all, and it's already based off the theory it's perspective that makes your actions honourable. I haven't queued in on the hole Melaan and Tensoon worldhopping theories yet, do you have a link I could go over to?
  5. It does annoy me we have no idea where they came from though.
  6. Thanks. I forgot to really discount gaz as A light weaver, and I agree with you there. I already see him as something else, but I don't really know what. As for Adolin and taravanigan, I like the idea of taravanigan being a potential radiant, and his actions are purely honourable, but I think he is something else. I mean due to his intelligence fluctuations. But he is an interesting character. It is still possible for him to be a radiant as well, pointed out by hoid and his access to light weaving, but he seems like to much of an interesting character already, and making him a radiant would almost make him mundane. I am in no position to refuse to refuse putting him up, and I like the idea of him being a minor radiant. I don't think he'll be a bondsmith though. Probably something with the same passive feeling but a new type of radiant, as Brandon would probably want to start pumping out a character in the story for each order. adolin on the other hand, seems pretty perfect to be one.
  7. I'd love for this to be the case, but so far from what we've seen from the heralds in words of radiance, none of them have acted spiked, and a spike justting from one of them hasn't been described. Thought take that away, and I think the heralds are too key to the story to have been spiked. I haven't really put too much fact into this so the theory could be right. I'm not really disproving much, but it's just a thought on the subject.
  8. Thank you, my first post was botched as I had not re read the words of radiance in a while and it was torn to pieces in that book.I'll look into the quote function as well. I Haven't dug too deep into the site yet, I'll be sure to check more thoroughly when posting things like this as to avoid, essentially copying another theory, though unintentionally. Thanks.
  9. This post is about the possible potentials for characters ( I.e. Someone being a radiant, for example gaz)or someone who has world hopped into another story, and it isn't blatantly stated in their name, but by the way they look and hints they drop, their profession so forth. I am going to add a few people to start this, 2 of which I have talked in one of my other posts but they weren't really the main point of the post and I'd like them to have their own post. Reply to this post with other people like this with enough proof and I'll add it onto the main post. I am starting with vasher, who I am theorizing worldhopped over to roshar. Now if you read to the end of words of radiance and read warbreaker, you'll see that night blood had a quick trip over to roshar near the end of the book. I just want to confirm it was nightblood by saying that, when the fisherman picks up nightblood out of the sea, he communes to the man with this question; Hello, would you like to destroy some evil today? Destroy evil is his base command and why he was given sentience. He then asks this same question to szeth. So when we see that question, we know it's nightblood and not some other sentient sword. Now back to vasher. I think he is Zahel, the shardbearer trainer for renarin, and eventually Kaladin. The his description can be found on page 466 (I am reading from iBooks so there might be a bit of page variation from that and the actual book) of words of radiance, and is quite similar to what warbreaker describes him as. Quote: The light clothing, tied with ropes, was very similar to what some of the ardents were wearing." “I’m not going to hurt your Damnation prince.” He had a low, grinding voice. Scratchy. Strange accent too." “Kaladin would have expected them to require the man to at least shave his head.” now light clothing ( grey). Same color vasher wears. He then has ropes holding up his clothing( the rope he had in warbreaker.) a grinding voice, again like vasher. Then we have the strange accent, distinguishing him from most rosharians( I'd also like to point out that most accent descriptions in the books give a possibility from as to where the voice's bearer comes from). The third and first paragraphs dismiss him from being an ardent. “He’s probably close to your own age, and is the son of the most powerful human on this—” Next, what word could Zahel have put after this, he could have said continent, but highstorms stop rosharians from crossing seas, and thusly they wouldn't have the word. He can't really use country, So I think he would've said planet. Character one analysis: complete. Now I want to theorize about gaz, who I mentioned before. I would like to say before I get started I don't have much ground for this theory but in my other post no one found anything that actually disproves it. I also don't have the direct quotes, which kind of sucks but oh well. He sees something in the "darkness" (where he can't see due to the unfortunate lack of an eye) and this is mentioned a few times late after kaladin's arrival at the war-camps. In my other post I theorized it the thing in the darkness could be a cryptic, now I realize it could be any Spren. Now I want to add elhokar to the mix, and I am happy to say I have a bit more info on him. quote, page 1902, IBooks. “Yes,” Elhokar replied. “And yet they are savages, and easily manipulated. It would be a perfect distraction, pinning the blame on a group of parshmen. We go to war for years and years, never noticing the real villains, working quietly in my own camp. They watch me. Always. Waiting. I see their faces in mirrors. Symbols, twisted, inhuman …” this is elhokar talking about his fear of assassins to Dalinar and Sadeas. Shallan also only saw glimpses of the pattern, in his shadesmar form from her peripherals and in her drawings. Adolin was put on this list by calderis. Reasoning: He fits the oaths spoken by by lift, putting him in the edgedancer category. He will become a radiant by awakening his shardbalde. Taravanigan was put on this list by caldaris. Reasoning: It's really just a great Thought to have him not completely helpless against someone like kaladin hunting the guy down later in the book. Along with the idea, placed in by caldaris, because people are so hung up on the idea that "honor" = "good" that it's fun throwing it out there and watching people go "but... But... Villain! Tensoon/Melaan(deceased) Placed on the list by toaster retribution. Reasoning:Brandon has said in an interview that kandra have worldhopped. Tensoon is the only living Kandra who is also a prominent character. Other possibilities include: Haddek, KanPaar, Oreseur(deceased), HanFoor, Varsell. I personally think it is Tenssoon's love interest in mistborn E1, as she hasn't had much "screen time" or purpose in the books. This far. Felt placed on the theory by toaster retribution. reasoning. He uses the same name on roshar as he does on Sel. Additionally in oathbringer we get this exchange between him and dalinar: “Any idea why she didn’t visit you?” “Well, best I could figure, she doesn’t like foreigners.” “I might have trouble too.” “You’re a little less foreign, sir.” Characters noted: vasher elhokar gaz adolin Taravanigan Kandra, assumably Tensoon. felt Vivenna, using the name Azure. So, Vasher is on roshar and gaz and elhokar are Proto-radiants. Please add on anything else you have on characters like this, and pick apart mine with a free will. I have no idea what to do with this info but it looks useful: Above the final void I hang, friends behind, friends before. The feast I must drink clings to their faces, and the words I must speak spark in my mind. The old oaths will be spoken anew.” I just thought it was an odd ritual to become a radiant using the old magic. while re-reading the storm light books, look for mention of a place called Rira. It's where dalinar's wife is from. Golden hair is a commodity there.
  10. I think if we take mistborn and convert it to vin, and wind runner to kaladin, it's pretty equal. Let's say both of them are full powered on an open plain. We have vin with coins and all that and kaladin can't run out of storm light. I think stormlight pretty much equalizes against pewter+ stormlight heals.so with infinite stormlight would win. Now assuming they start out with an equal amount to their respective powers. Kaladin is experienced with a spear, win with knives. Kaladin' spear(syl) converts herself into a shield to help him out. Vin's steelpushes get countered as soon as the coin touches kaladin's body, as he puts stormlight in it and it stays in place and pushes vin, or just falls to the ground.so steel pushing and knives are countered, but atium is a factor, she uses it and beats kaladin up until he is almost out of stormlight and she has no atium. So kaladin is low, vin is almost out of pewter, still has tin, she never had access to any time bubble metals in mistborn so leave that alone. Again they're about equal. now we're in a fairly equal fight, vin has enhanced senses and so does kaladin. Not much else with kaladin. His stormlight and her tin run out at the same time, he has a shardbalde that can transform into a shield, and she has so knive some non-metal powered experience. Kaladin has a ton of experience. She goes down. Essentially they beat each other into a one on one no power scenario. Take their powers away and kaladin wins, especially since he still has a shardblade and stormlight heals him.
  11. Light spine, sorry I mislead you there. I meant that they would be just materializing. Not actually on the radiant's fingers. I was just trying to give an option to how they were made. As in some of the radiants' Spren turned into soulcasters rather than swords
  12. I made this theory after re reading the first book, and I can see that I would've forgotten something about has jasnah or someone else saying they were cryptics and so forth, But gaz says that he sees something lurking in the darkness, not just darkness, so we can scrap the theory but as I said, itleast I shined a bit of light on elhokar and gaz. And I've just noticed that from szeth's perspective, we've never seen the cryptics, though his powers do come from a sword so I've only got 1 and a half hints for it.not a lot but as I said 3 hints are concrete in a lot of Sanderson's books, so again I'm not really getting a 100% chance that I'm right there. but I think I deleted this part of the theory where I dug myself into a hole about soulcasting and got away from the main idea. In In dalnar's vision at fever stone keep, we see many radiants dropping their weapons and plate, but not any soulcasters. I thought this was because soul casters were just differently made when I first read it, but then I thought why would the equipment be able to be used by men with no Spren at all? Non radiants,? So I though about it and figured that soulcasters had to be made the same way, and that men bing able to use it was just a failsafe from the almighty if the radiants fell. So why were no soulcasters dropped? I think it was because of the type of radiants. These were radiants returning from the front lines. So thusly they aren't oriented around soulcasting. Lightweavers and truth seekers would have dropped them. So I think that only radiants who soulcast would have dropped them. This does stray from the main theory quite a bit, but I thought this does help it out in some aspects, though I have scrapped the theory already. Well I just read the chapter veristitalian and came across a quote that completely dances on my theory's grave : (Jasnah speaking, talking about the Spren shallan draws.)"they are a type of spren, Shallan. They are related to what you do.” She tapped the desk softly. “Two orders of the Knights Radiant possessed inherent Soulcasting ability; it was based on their powers that the original fabrials were designed, I believe.” I think it's sae to say my theory is wrong, but I was right about elhokar and gaz, elhokar even describes these creatures. I think we'll learn a lot about these Spren in the next book.
  13. This is a small theory about the creatures shallan sees in shadesmar/her drawings .My curiosity is way that the creatures were introduced to characters. The characters are: Shallan(obviously) :In shallan' s case, it was relatively blatant that she could only see the creatures through her drawings. Gaz: He sees them in the "darkness" (where he can't see due to the unfortunate lack of an eye) and this is mentioned a few times late after kaladin's arrival at the warcamps Elhokar: We see this in his fear of assassin's, Quote page 1902: “Yes,” Elhokar replied. “And yet they are savages, and easily manipulated. It would be a perfect distraction, pinning the blame on a group of parshmen. We go to war for years and years, never noticing the real villains, working quietly in my own camp. They watch me. Always. Waiting. I see their faces in mirrors. Symbols, twisted, inhuman …” This is very similar to the description's given by shallan about the creature's from shadesmar. Now let's turn back the clock a bit. We see elhokar's fear of assassins, shallan' drawings, and Gaz's lack of an eye, all show hints at these creatures. This means that there is something in common guaranteed, due to other big plot points in Sanderson's other books being given 1 or 2 hints, so 3 is basically a guarantee. So, each of these hints show key points in a character, revealing the creatures from shadesmar. what does this mean? Suprisingly, we still don't know enough about kaladin's backstory to determine much from his relationship starting with syl. But let's assume that he's never seen the creatures as he has never soulcast and never been to shadesmar. This means that only certain types of radiants can soulcast. Now having all three of these well set up characters all have the same power seems a bit of a waste to me. This means that multiple types of radiant's can soulcast, but in kaladin's case( and lift's ) not all types can soulcast. We pretty much already knew that though, right? So let's extend. Soulcasters. We see from dalinar's trip to fever stone keep that no soulcaster's dropped down from the radiants when they betrayed their oaths. What did all of these radiant's have in common? They were all once in the front lines in battle. These were the radiant's returning from the front lines. They weren't bond-smiths Light-weavers, and truth-seekers. These were edgedancers wind-runners and sky-breakers. So. There you have it right? Only some radiant's can soulcast and this theory was useless because we already knew this. now getting back on topic, The main part of the theory originates from these two quotes from WoK Blood of my fathers, Dalinar thought, gripping the stone railing, leaning forward. Those aren’t stones. They’re creatures. Massive creatures, easily five or six times the size of a person, their skin dull and grey like granite. They had long limbs and skeletal bodies, the forelegs—or were they arms?—set into wide shoulders. The faces were lean, narrow. Arrowlike.” The darkness becomes a palace. Let it rule! Let it rule!” now, as I have said, two hints at one thing is a near confirmation in the way of Sanderson. What I am stating is that the figures shallan, elhokar, and gaz see are the same Guant stone creatures we see recurring a few times, namely at the the start of the series from the herald's perspective. first of all, we know these creatures have something to do with soulcasting. How? Kaladin hasn't seen them or been to shadesmar, and he doesn't soulcast. (Neither does lift). Meanwhile shallan has, and she soulcasts. Elhokar and gaz just don't give enough information, but have the same description of the creatures. So, quote 1 analyzed. The second one refers to the creatures, in my point of view, as darkness. Why? The creatures described are always dark, and in the pure lake were dark as well (dalinar's visions). Even if this is inaccurate, dalinar's visions represent them as a dark stone like creature. So then they form a palace, let it rule! Sound familiar? What could form a palace from nothing? Soul casting.the creatures shallan sees, share a vague description( being only in the spiritual realm( shadesmar) and then the creatures dalinar's sees in his visions are soulcasting. And shadesmar is a soulcasting "hotspot" if you will. Now for one final touch. This I don't have the exact quote for, and am re reading the books to find it. But I remember one of the heralds saying that the parshendi/parshmen aren't the voidbringers. Something else is. I dismissed when I first read it, thinking that the herald had been driven insane or something other. Now I think he is right, and moreover, that these creatures are. The creatures were also lying dead on the battlefield, and most scholars agree that the desolations were wars between the voidbringers and man. So those creatures are guaranteed the voidbringers. So that's my theory. The creatures in shadesmar are the same as those in dalinar's visions. Just in a different form due to shadesmar. And hey if I'm wrong elhokar and gaz are still potential radiant's. here's a quote I think is important but have no idea what to do with:Above the final void I hang, friends behind, friends before. The feast I must drink clings to their faces, and the words I must speak spark in my mind. The old oaths will be spoken anew.” An odd ritual to become a radiant? I think death ramblings can predict the future due to this: Doesn't Szeth do this in wor? “In the storm I awaken, falling, spinning, grieving.”
