Inktober 23 - IM BACK (also the title is firefly lol)

It is floating in the air.

Flying.

People say its on fire.

I don't see it.

It glows.

Maybe a bit like fire.

But it doesn't burn any that gets close.

Sure, it has it's flaws.

It will fly away when you get close to it.

But fire is worse.

Fire hurts those it loves.

And those that love it have to learn to stay away.

I wish I could be more like the firefly.

But for now?

I am much more like the fire.

I glow from a distance,

But hurt any who get close.

I don't even have enough self awarness

To keep people away.

I wish I could be more like a firefly

But for now, I am more like a fire.

I just hope one day

Someone can be wearing flame resistant gloves

Or have the strength to put me out.

I hope people can see how terrible I am

And that I am no beautiful firefly

Only a painful fire.

I’m certainly glad I listened to you. The poem style really is cool, out of the ones I’ve read so far, they’re my favorite. Good job sharing your writing btw, I could never do that, way to self-conscious.
