Inktober 17 - Grandmaster

Rex was distraught.

Hostis and Amicus were at war,

His kingdom was divided,

And all he could think about is that he failed his country.

He was a King, and he should act like one.

But all the nobles were belittling his acts of support for Amicus,

But when he suggests helping Hostis, they visibly cringe at the thought.

They only thing they seem to want to do is to stay out of the fight.

"Consiliarius, what am I too do?" Rex groaned.

"Sir, I believe the best course of action would be to pull out and only show minor support, like sending aid." Consiliarius replied.

I really hope this is a good idea. Sorry Magnus.

"Sometimes I think you could run the country better than me." Rex said.

"Never, my liege." Consiliarius said.

---

Magnus was concerned.

Ever since the game of chess, Amicus was in strife.

We have never been good in war. At least we have Regnum aiding us. Rex has always been a friend.

"Sir! Sir, we have a situation!" A runner said.

"What is it?" Rex asked.

"It's about Regnum, sir." The runner said.

At least it will be only good news.

"Sir, Regnum has officially receded it's troops from battle."

"WHAT?!?" This is the last thing we need right now. Why, Rex?

"Sir, they are still sending aid, just not troops."

Rex, why?

Magnus felt deja-vu.

It's just like the chess game.

I will never be a Grandmaster.
