Fashion Folio: Takama

This is my reaction blog for Wind and Truth. Beware of spoilers! Index post here

I do really like the comparison between the traditional and modern styles, with a clear distinction drawn between the practicality of one versus the aristocratic finery of the other. The stiff, starched collar of the undershirt as well as what I’m imagining as gold thread adorning the sash of the modern dress in particular give a lot of character to the outfit. The open chested look with the weapons and travel pack give a much more rugged look (but still fashionably attractive, as appropriate to a folio page).

Is the “singer version” of the clothing that Renarin saw himself wear in that vision similar to the traditional takama, then? I’m going to have to read that description again.

It is interesting to me that the “takama” is apparently the whole body outfit, including the layered top. I had imagined that term referring just to the skirt and sash.

As nice as these fashion pages are, I have less to say about them.
