  1. Interesting how Kaladin is seen as one of teh stronger people on Roshar, but he was willing to kill himself in the chasm at, maybe, 20 years old? Taln went through 4,500 years of damnation before finally giving up. Obviously Taln had a better reason to stay in, to keep away the desolation, but Kaladin had the reason of keeping bridge 4 alive to.
  2. I would really like to see a book focused on Taln with a large portion involving Amaram. Amaram is a well-built villain as he isn't evil for the sake of being evil or for any selfish reason and Taln is a badass who survived 4,500 years of damnation.
  3. Is Szeth a coward or the most honorable man on Roshar? I think Kaladin didn't have the full picture when calling him a coward. Szeth feels the agony of every kill he has done, proven by his madman eyes and clenched teeth as well as his conversation with Dalanar. Yet, he goes on and kills because that is what he is told to do. Personally I think Szeth is as far from a coward as possible.
  4. I disagree. Kaladin didn't know everything when he called Szeth a coward, only that he was doing the killings against his will. Szeth was a madman because of what he did, his eyes always too round as he kept them always open and his teeth grinding from the sounds of the dead. Yet, he still killed when told to and added to his agony. He did this because from what he was told, it was the honorable thing to do.
  5. I suppose thats true, mostly the first point you made. Sanderson even mentioned Szeth seeming to run out quicker, but I thought that didn't play a large role in the fight because they both seemed to charge off the coming storms. Also, his shield did block quite a few attacks. Though I think Szeth is always out of his mind, he thanked Dalanar and grinned at him for prolonging his agony. As for the fourth point, just the fact that Kaladin could be an equal match against Szeth is a big deal. After Szeth gets he talks about Kaladin, referencing him as 'the man who owned the skies'. Kaladin just started flying (or shifting his gravity) and Szeth had done it for years. So I thought Kaladin was even more than a KR, but your right about the honorblade. Also, how do I move a thread?
  6. When Szeth met the dimwitted genius unscheduled, everyone who knew it was him feared for their lives. Szeth has been killing for at least 6 years (Gavillar) and he killed Roion and his men like, in Adolin's words, a chull fighting rats. Kaladin could fight, no question about that, but he couldn't do what Szeth did, skill and power-wise. Yet he held his own against Szeth and chased him down in a storm. I realize Kaladin is a KR at this point, but does that really defeat all of Szeth's experience and skill? Could Kaladin be more than just a KR?
  7. While it most certainly doesn't justify murder, you really downplayed the philosophy behind it. It isn't like how you said it at all. It's more like (to stick with the same idea): Let's kill all the supernaturally strong or those with potential to be supernaturally strong who are showing criminal behavior in order to secure safety for the masses. Anyway, I agree it isn't justification, but you made it sound more dark and simplified than it is. Edit: Typo
