  1. The Radiant orders seem to have different views on what is right or wrong. The Windrunners or Skybreakers may not accept Adolin for what he did, but there are other orders would be perfectly fine (even happy) with his actions (Brandon confirmed this). Many of the Surgebinders/Radiants we've seen so far have had questionable killings. I believe Shallan took the quicker/easier path by killing her father. He was already incapacitated and they could have just restrained him and got the proper authorities as her father did just kill his wife and nearly killed her brother. The Highprince already was highly suspicious of her father and would have probably removed him if someone came forward with his crimes. He deserved his fate, but there were other options Shallan and her family probably could have taken. Jasnah has used assassins to murder people and has purposely place herself in danger with the intent of killing criminals. Ym (interlude) was an accomplice in a murder. We don't know much of the details, but he did claim to be ignorant of the poison he gave to someone though. Dalinar has indicted that he has killed people that didn't deserved it (during his Blackthorn days). He has apparently killed people that just had too much too drink and probably insulted him or something. - I really don't want a love triangle scenario to happen, though the story does feel like it will have Kaladin/Shallan pairing at some point. Kaladin getting together with Shallan while she is still with Adolin or causing them to break off the betrothal doesn't seem to be very honorable and makes them both look bad (especially if Kal and Adolin become true friends). Then Adolin getting jealous or having extreme rage towards Kal and Shallan would be awful as well. I don't particularly enjoy reading/watching this type of stuff. I do, however, really enjoy Kaladin/Shallan (I like Adolin/Shallan too), but if they get together, I hope that Shallan and Adolin would've already broken up for their own reasons. I really like how Kaladin and Adolin relationship progressed in WoR and hope they can continue it. - As for Adolin going bad, I think that killing Sadeas will probably causes a chain of events that will bring Adolin to a dark place, similar to Kaladin and Shallan having to go through terrible periods in their lives (probably nowhere near as bad). I think that there is a good chance that he will emerge though it, just like they have, and become a Radiant himself. I really don't see him going completely darkside, as that would mean going against the people he loves most (Dalinar, Renarin, Navani) and it doesn't seem to fit what we've seen from the character so far. Even if Kaladin and Shallan happen soon, would that really make Adolin go darkside? For a woman he's hasn't been seeing that long (about a month only so far). Maybe if they were together for a much longer time (or married) and he was really in love with her, I could understand. At this point, it doesn't seem to fit for a guy that is used to going through so many relationships, even though he really likes Shallan and wants it to work out. The whole rage/Odium theory is interesting and very well could be the thing that causes him down the dark path. However, I think we haven't seen enough occurrences from Adolin to say it is Odium influencing him yet (unlike Shallan's father). Anger and rage towards Sadeas was completely understandable and I would be more worried if Adolin was becoming enraged all the time over any little thing. Even Kaladin was enraged at Szeth before their second fight. It will be interesting to see the consequences of Adolin's actions and where it will take his character. ...
  2. Awesome, I would love to read more about him. So the most likely characters to get a book in the second half are Renarin, Lift, and Taln? Just a guess. Words of Radiance ...
  3. My favorites (in no real order) Kaladin Syl Jasnah Wit Dalinar I really think Shallan and Adolin improved a lot in WoR and they are among my favorites now as well.
  4. I think Kaladin, pre-third ideal, would have murdered Amaram the same way if given the chance. The difference is Adolin doesn't have Syl to guide him like Kal does. Kaladin basically wanted to kill Amaram the way Adolin killed Sadeas. ...
  5. I don't really see Adolin going evil, at least I hope it doesn't go that direction. He seems to love his family (Dalinar, Renarin, Navani, ect) too much to actually betray them. I also don't think killing Sadeas is any worse than Shallan strangling her father to death or Jasnah using assassins to murder people. Sadeas was basically responsible for the deaths of thousands of Adolin's men, has tried to kill his father twice already, and freely admits to Adolin that he wants Dalinar out of the way so he can take power (even though he knows Dalinar was right). I'm not so sure that even Kaladin would have a problem with Adolin killing Sadeas. Kaladin himself said that he wanted to kill Amaram up close with a knife, so can he blame Adolin for doing it to Sadeas, someone whom Kal also hates. I think that killing Sadeas will cause some consequences to Adolin, but I also think it could be the defining event that will push him towards becoming a Radiant.
  6. I think Renarin had his ups and downs like many of the other characters. He still had some great moments like trying to help his bother in the duel (despite his shardblade) and joining Bridge Four. I like all the Kholins (Jasnah being my favorite) and wished we got to know him better in WoR since we probably know the least about him. edit: I forgot about Elhokar, so there is one Kholin I am not too crazy about.
  7. Apparently Jerich (here) asked BS at a book signing and BS said there are some orders of the Radiants that would be happy with Adolin's actions. Not the Skybreakers though, since he broke the law.
  8. There are many great moments in WoR. My favorite has to be when Syl returns to Kaladin though.
  9. You can put me firmly into the anti-love triangle camp. I actually like both relationships (Shallan with Adolin or Kaladin) but if she ends up with Kaladin, please don't make it so that he is the reason Adolin and Shallan to end their relationship. I really want Kaladin and Adolin to continue growing their friendship. For WoR, I thought Kaladin and Shallan were slightly the stronger pairing, but that has a lot to do with circumstance (the chasms). Both men opened up to Shallan fairly quickly. Kaladin talking about his past and Adolin confiding about his fathers plans and his feelings on their first date (pretty amazing to trust her with this so fast). I know some people say Shallan acts a little different when with Adolin (she tries a little too hard at first), but I think it is just realistic. Often when you first start dating someone you really like, you can try too hard to get them to like you. I think she is settling down more now that her and Adolin are closer.
  10. Jasnah is known to hire assassins to kill people, so I don't think Adolin actions would prevent him from becoming a radiant. There is very little difference, imo, to killing someone yourself and paying someone to kill for you. There are very few people that deserve to be killed more than Sadeas. I honestly think that Kaladin would have killed Sadeas too (or Amaram) if given the chance (prior to the third ideal). The difference between Kaladin and Adolin is that Kal already has a honorspren/Syl who encourages him to act a certain way.
