I completely disagree. Jasnah is dressed practically for battle, and in no way does Whelan emphasize her curves. To me, she looks exactly like a powerful woman her age should. Also, Kaladin was not on the cover of WoK, and Shallan was not on the cover of WoR, so I don't understand why anyone expected Dalinar to be on the cover of OB. While I do agree that putting Jasnah on the cover was a tad spoilery, I think you are only seeing what you want to see regarding her figure. I am a woman who is all for desexualizing the media when it comes to women, but I truly believe Michael Whelan chose to do this scene for the cover because he felt it best conveyed the theme of Oathbringer, not to pander to Brandon's female readers.

I agree. I think that, though many of us have been burned by badly done love triangles, if anyone can do it well, it's Brandon. I normally hate love triangles, but I am actually excited to see the way the Shallan/Adolin/Kaladin thing plays out. I love Adolin, but I think they are on unequal levels, and Kaladin and Shallan are better suited both intellectually and magic/power-"ly" Is that a word? Most of the criticism I have read of WoR has been of the use of common formulas and tropes. Brandon's books are unique in so many ways, but everyone seems to expect him to avoid using ANYTHING that may have been done before. There is a reason these tropes are often used in literature; they are entertaining. Is there something so wrong with that? It's the WAY you write them that matters in the end. I love classic British literature. I obviously know Elizabeth Bennett will end up with Mr. Darcy, but that doesn't mean I avoid reading that genre. I still enjoy the story, the journey. Journey before destination, right? I think readers should refrain from criticizing purely on the basis that it's a love triangle. Instead, keep and open mind, and the results may surprise you.

I completely agree. I enjoyed The Way of Kings, but I also felt like I was peeking through a key hole, viewing a nice story, but just skimming the surface. I was worried the Words of Radiance would only give us a little more, perhaps opening a porthole into Roshar, but Brandon flung a window open instead. While I know there is even more left to be discovered, I felt like this story had so much more depth. As you said, Brandon answered questions I thought would be left for books 3, 4, or 5. Words of Radiance was definitlely worth the wait!

Definitely! My mother-in-law will come and stay the night with the baby so we can hang out in Provo the entire time. I can't wait!!

Well, after peeking at various Sanderson discourse for a little while now, I decided to quit being intimidated by you all and join in the discussion. A little bit about myself. Obviously, I am a Brandon Sanderson fan, but I will read almost anything, as long as it is well written. I live in the Salt Lake Valley, but am originally from Casper, Wyoming. When I'm not chasing my 15-month old daughter around, I spend my time as an editor for a university press, proofreader for a department at Utah State University, and freelance copyeditor, as well as exercising my beagle, baking gourmet cupcakes, and spending as much time as I can at the barn riding my Arabian mare. I was a gamma reader for Words of Radiance, and loved every page, including the ones that made me want to both laugh and cry in the same breath. I can't wait until it is out and I can finally talk to someone about it! My husband is a purist, and refused to read it on my computer/iPad, instead vowing to wait and read the hardcover. I am excited about finally diving into the Sanderson community, and look forward to meeting you all! Kelly
