  1. Nice catch DoctorWh0m It could be it what Hoid is looking for, another possibility is this:

That chunk of pale pink crystal looked like it might be some kind of gemstone, but why was it so delicate? Bits of it had flaked off in its case, as if simply setting it down had almost crushed it.

Maybe this pink crystal is what he's looking for since it's dying (or dead). and a presumably worldhopper has it in his collection.

Maybe one of Hoid objectives in coming to Roshar is tracking the thieving worldhopper and getting it back.

  2. Say what you will about Abercrombie he knows how to make memorable characters.

("Say one thing for Logen Ninefingers, say he's a survivor." reference ;P)

Logen Ninefingers, Dogman, Harding Grim, Sand dan Glokta were very good, I didn't experience raw feeling of epicness like those since Gemmell's Legend back in the day.

  3. Not books but if you're into Japanese, Korean and Chinese stuff (or can tolerate them) you should read these novels, you won't be dissapointed:

"The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor" - around 16 novels out of 40 are translated. a must read for mmorpg lovers. the best VR book around.

"Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria" - good thriller, sci-fi and psychological novel. like the Liar game manga to whoever know it.

"Baccano" - Cannot explain it really, thriller+sci-fi with a pinch of immortality ;)

all of them can be found free online.

There are more but they are more perverted for the most part so I won't recommend them to everyone. enjoy.

  4. Guys I will add the series Codex Alera, Night Angel trilogy and some YA goodies such as Bartimaeus and Monster Hunter International.

I dunno what about you but I find Abercrombie characters and fighting scenes on per with Stormlight Archieve books, just his story and scope (and endings) give much to desire.

BS knows how to combine well crafted story, grand scope and fine characters wich develops over time and Isn't scared to kill them off if the story demends it.

The little tidbits about the cosmere and foreshadowing he throws in after the xxx number of drafts shows he really cares.

  5. From WoB:

Q:  What Jasnah did, in the first book, with Shallan in the alleyway. And what happened at the end of this book, between Adolin and the other character. Would you put them on the same level? Or would you say that what Adolin did was maybe a little bit darker?
A:  I would say that what Adolin did was less dark, personally. I would say that what Adolin did was something that needed to be done, that no one else was capable of doing.
Q:  Will it have any ramifications for him down the line? With how it was handled?
A:  Oh, there are definitely ramifications. How it's handled, there's lots of ramifications. And there are certain characters who would think that what he did is totally, totally, totally wrong.

Do you think Shallan will think what he did was wrong? or think along the lines of BS (we all know Dalinar will be greatly bother by it )

  6. Based on what we know of current Alethi culture, Dalinar being suspected of killing Sadeas but there being no witness would be an impressive action, not a shameful one. It seems unlikely that the average Alethi would be anything but approving. That said, it would certainly undermine his moral authority (or moral credibility, perhaps) if people suspect this. His recent allies (especially Aladar) might also think that they were played if they have reason to suspect Dalinar was behind this. However, Sadeas has enough enemies and Dalinar's reputation is good enough that I don't think it would be surprising if no one really considers Dalinar a likely suspect.

Even if non of the Highprinces will lift a finger against him there are other forces who could easily work against him, mainly Sadeas wife lalai. She can send her Assassins onto Dalinar just cause she can, it will teach them that being KR doesn't make you immortal just hard to kill.

Adolin can be effected by it and choose to reveal his secret fearing for his father life.

  7. I will try to predict General info about each part of the book:

First part - Kaladin returning to heartstone, getting everyone to follow him to the Kholin Oathgate. Shallan will active the Oathgate on her side with the help of Jasnah. Dalinar will send envoys to escort people into the city from the other towns. quell the rebellion in Alethkar.

Second part - Szeth train with the blade and learning more about Skybreakers.

Shallan will meet with her family and more Ghostbloods talk about the truth.

Kaladin will return to Urithiru with his parents, meet with Bridge four and learn about their glowing.

Mr.T will enter Urithiru and meet Dalinar.

Adolin will have his issues around here.

    Dalinar will receive the Honorblade.

Third part - A plan to evac Shinovar will be in motion, that or to stop the Everstorm.

Kaladin will be on his way to Shinovar chasing the Highstorm to the west, all the other KR+Kal Squires will follow slower(by horses or jumping to the nearest Oathgate).

meanwhile Szeth be on his way to Shinovar as well to Judge the elders and pick the rest of the honorblades.(Skybreakers remember?).

Fourth part- a fight will happen between the Honorblade bearers and Szeth. Kaladin will hop along and will help him(eventually). but even both of them will have problems and use all their stormlight. suddenly like Gandalf the rest of the KR+ Kal Squires appear around the hill and save them both.

Szeth leave with Nalan (or is he?).

Edit: too many English mistakes sorry.

No Idea where to put Taln(and Amaram) but he had/s an honorblade so he connected to the other honorblades in Shinovar. and what will happen to Eshonai I have no idea.

  8. I think It's foreshadowing to Kaladin journey(next book).

We know the Everstorm going to hit Shinovar next, so Kaladin gonna race it(by flying).

I assume after leaving for Hearthstone and finishing his buisness there, he will fly east to New Natahan than to the sea after the storm.

“Upon that land of dirt and soil,” Wit shouted, “our hero fell and did not stir! His body spent, his strength undone, Fleet the hero was no more.

“The storm approached and found him there. It stilled and stopped upon its course! The rains they fell, the winds they blew, but forward they could not progress.

“For glory lit, and life alive, for goals unreached and aims to strive. All men must try, the wind did see. It is the test, it is the dream.”

He will "die" in the struggle, at least his hero self?than stop the storm in it's track.

“So in that land of dirt and soil, our hero stopped the storm itself. And while the rain came down like tears, our Fleet refused to end this race. His body dead, but not his will, within those winds his soul did rise.

He refused to let the race end, he won't give up. he's all wounded and close to dying but his will is still strong. Kaladin soul is lifted in the wind(Windrunner ;))

“It flew upon the day’s last song, to win the race and claim the dawn. Past the sea and past the waves, our Fleet no longer lost his breath. Forever strong, forever fast, forever free to race the wind.”

last song= Parshendi last song reference? , dawn = dawnshards?(seems a strech). Kaladin flying past the sea and waves, no longer tired(did he lose stormlight before?).

Input is welcome, not sure about all of that.

The big problem is that the Everstorm is going around the opposite way of the Highstorm, Kaladin following the Everstorm around the globe seems unlikely lol...

  9. I'll just put mines here, hopefully someone will pick 'em up since I don't live in the USA.

    - When is the first time Wit visited Roshar? (just wondering)

    - Will the Everstorm reach the Origin like the normal storm supposedly does?(prob RAFO)

    - Is there req to be a squire, or just follow the KR that represent you?and does it take certain time?

    - What with lyatil skin grow around her mask , does she connected to the Parshendi?

    - Does Rysn saw the eye of santhid in the water?

    - Did Gavilar had the exact same visions as Dalinar? Could Gavilar bonded with the Stormfather if he were alive?

Do with the questions as you may  ;)

  10. I agree that it's likely she'll become a Willshaper if she becomes a KR at all, for the above reasons.

I will add something funny Willshaper may have the power of control or shape a target will(thinking Jedi mind tricks here).

maybe that will let her control her own self after she became Voidbringer and lost control to the red spren.

  12.

A new storm might come, blowing in from the west, not the east. Prepare.

New Natanan, on the very eastern coast of Roshar, would be struck today after the everstorm left the Shattered Plains. Then it would enter the eastern ocean and move toward the Origin.
    .
    .
For such an enormous tower, the roof was actually relatively small, and not that encrusted with crem. This high, less rain likely dropped during highstorms—and everyone knew crem was thicker in the east than it was in the west.
    .
    .
He did not know why the eastern face of the tower was straight and sheer, facing the Origin. No balconies along that side.
    .
    .
Dalinar walked down off the top of Urithiru and entered the stairwell again. The flight of steps opened into a room that encompassed nearly the entire top floor of the tower city, and it shone with light through glass windows. Glass with no shutters or support, some of it facing east. How it survived highstorms Dalinar did not know, though lines of crem did streak it in places.
    .
    .
This was the eastern face of the tower, the flat edge that looked directly toward the Origin.
    .
    .
Shallan had walked to the windows. Dalinar stepped up beside her. This was the eastern face of the tower, the flat edge that looked directly toward the Origin.

I think you guys are into something with the east side of Urithiru, it's mentioned awfully a lot. maybe it's stayed in such a good shape since the normal storm going from east to west, It may have defensive problems on the western size. the everstorm going from west to east. it may hit them in time and they will have to evac Urithiru.

    - The Everstorm is heading to New Natanan shouldn't it head to Aimia before hitting Shinovar? or is it the map tilted so it passes above it?

The Origin is mentioned a lot too, I wonder what will happen if the Everstorm reach it. Will this bring the solution in destroying the Everstorm I wonder. Maybe another expedition like "Derethil and the Wandersail" or it's related to Wit story about fleet (a collection of ships) heading east to the origin. and yes I know the obvious Fleet tale and Kaladin doings in this book, just finding another possible explanation.

To race the wind? It can’t be done. Undaunted, Fleet was set to run. So to the east, there went our Fleet. Upon the shore his mark was set.

  13.

Wind blew in the opening in the wall, and Syl’s ribbon of light became mist, a form she often took. Silver mist, which grew larger, coalesced before Kaladin, extending into his hand.

Glowing, brilliant, a Shardblade emerged from the mist, vivid blue light shining from swirling patterns along its length.

It's different than vines, silver mist for Kaladin's blade.

Sure it could be just a specific summoning to a specific blade but Windle grew vines fast in the LIft prologue so I find it highly suggestive.

And there were more than just one KR per order, there is nothing preventing Adolin be a Edgedancer as well as Lift.

(I'll find it silly if there were 1 for each order than 2 than 3 etc...or only 1 per order like the Heralds)

  14. How many questions can you ask in one signing? certain time allotted to each? per buying?

Isn't it smart to meet some group per signing to show them your hand (a.k.a your list)?

If it was me I would've share all my questions with people, let them choose. maybe some people will pick up yours and you can get much more answers this way :)

  15. I believe will become a KR in the end, just not at the start.

I think he needs to break first to attract a spren.

For it something need to happen, it's much too good an opportunity for Sanderson to let Adolin go back to his usual everyday life now.

He will walk his own way apart from Dalinar goodie-goodie actions, he will do good just not in his father's way, in Mr.T's way, the end justifies the means.

He will do some mistakes, realize it than attract a spren and become a KR.

I don't call it going dark, I call it growth and atonement, since every action has consequence.

I think killing Sadeas will have major ramification for future event/s.

Edit: about "Storms. Had he just done that? Had he just murdered a highprince?"

I don't see it as broken, what will happen when he won't be caught? he will feel good he did it to save his family, he will see that taking the law into ones own hands actually works and you can get away with it. (watched an episode of Justified ;) )

  16. I liked Kaladin finally getting over his issues.

Shallan flashed out and witty behavior.

    Lift Awesomeness.

    Mr.T schemes and Diagram.

    Adolin coolness.

    Pershandi culture.

Ghostbloods and SoH sides were moving along nicely.

    What's need more development next-

    Jasnah advantures.

    Dalinar side.

    Renarin POV please.

  17. The short, tan-skinned person had some kind of carapace mask tied to his face, pulled tight. In fact, it looked like . . . like the skin had started to grow around the edges of the mask somehow.

The arrangement of red-orange carapace pieces was like a mosaic, giving a hint of eyebrows, of anger and rage. Behind that mask, a pair of dark eyes regarded her, unblinking, and an impassive mouth and chin were also left exposed. The man . . . no, the womanShallan noticed the hint of breasts and shape of the torso. The exposed safehand had thrown her.

Shallan stifled a blush. The woman wore dark brown clothing, simple, tied at the waist with an intricate belt, studded with more carapace. Four other people wearing more traditional Alethi clothing chatted softly beside the fire.

Not only the the safehand was exposed but her clothes were semi revealing too, she didn't care about exposure at the least. just like the Reshi folks with their nakedness.

Say for a second she's one of the Reshi and Shardpool is the one Rysn fell into. it does make for an interesting idea, a connection between some characters a larkin and god's eye(is it santhid? like the illustration of Shallan of it)

    but that's purely speculation.

  18. “You are willing to ponder,” Iyatil said. “Rather than asking question after question. This is good. Your instincts, however, must be judged. Are you the hunter, or are you the quarry?”

    “Neither,” Shallan said immediately.

“All are one or the other.”

Shallan moved to pull back, but Iyatil held on. “Who are you really, Veil?” the woman asked. “You caught me in stealth spying upon you, and you can lose me in the streets. This is not easily accomplished. Your clever drawings fascinate Mraize, another near-impossible task, considering all that he has seen. Now what you have done today.”

Both passages mark her as a stealthy hunter and in the second passage imply he's seen a lot since he's a world hopper. so at the least he's a world hopper.

  19. I believe Mraize is the only world hopper in the Ghostbloods, and that lyatil is his Roshar guide(he's her student in this world).

He met and recruited her some time after getting out of the Shardpool. (she implied that she knew his secret)

All the other members present in the meeting were local alethi, a distinction from her attire, lack of safehand glove and tanned skin.

I think she came from a backwater country like Reshi and her country will be most likely near the location of the 2nd Shardpool.
