    It's a smart marketing ploy to release small excerpts of the book. Those that read the samples will want the book even more. Smart Tor, smart.

    Wild speculation: Honor's shard of godliness has been shattered so it has to be remade in order for a binding oath pact to be made between Honor and Odium. So I'm guessing Dalinar will take up said mantle after he dies (Kelsier apparently took up Preservation's mantle posthumously) reforming said oathpact. Also, I think the honor spren are Honor's shattered mantle.

    I think new champions (heralds are honors champs that fight odium's unmade champs) have to be chosen because the old ones (except Taln) threw up deuces. I'm guessing Kaladin and Adolin will be champs and get nifty honorblades.

    Usually the simplest answer is true. I believe Taln just fell into a Bush when he was released from Damnation. Hence the leaves and twigs in his beard.

    I remember in the prologue for Wok it mentioned that when the Heralds die they go to Damnation to be tortured until the next desolation. I think that is where the heralds go along with shardblades. They're tools of Damnation, which is why Syl doesn't like them. Pure speculation.

    Last time I listened to this on audiobook, so spike sounded like pike to me. I'm going to laugh for a week if he gets an ashandarai.

    Sorry if someone already posted this, but when Taln returned from Damnation he had an honor blade that was a pike. A pike and a spear are very close in form and design; they're both polearms. So in my estimation, it's likely shardblades can be polearms in form.
