  1. Read Scott Lynch, The Lies of Locke Lamora. I loved it!
  2. Great job everyone...I had solved to That before I saw the full code posted...
  3. It could. But it seems as though T uses different ciphers for different "patterns." I'm curious as to where this road will go and to watch the thought progression of the 17th community.
  4. Would be tough to get a cipher breaker to work if it's using SA specific words...I'm on a re-read now, looking for something that could point me in the closer direction. I feel good about this.
  5. Ok guys...think about this for a second. If you were an author, and you wanted to put a clever code into your book, you'd be, well, clever. It seems to me that Brandon may have given us the clue at the Seattle signing. He stated, "There is a key in the book." Breaking the numbers into pairs, I think we may have the frame work of the code, but not the key. If we could determine a phrase within the book that is they key, we could write it in an appropriate key block and translate the correct number for letters. For example: Key Phrase: The Cat Has Fat 1234 1TCHF 2HAAA 3ETST Where they you wanted to spell out the word fast...it would be coded as. 14223332 (14-22-33-32) You can see how multiple letters could be associated to the same number which makes sense given we have 30 unique pairs. Any thoughts?
  6. So...thinking of things that jumped out at me...is this code related to page 111? Also...were the capital letters from the Stormfather always in BOLD in WoK? Not sure if they are related...just trying to give some out of the box ideas for those smarter then me looking for some inspiration.
  7. DOWNLOADING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Me too...though it doesn't look like you can buy it...frustrated to say the least.
  9. Anyone on NOOK hear anything about when they will release?
  10. So is it confirmed for nook readers getting it at midnight est...or 9pm for me!
  11. I'm on my iPhone and can't figure out where the actual audio is for chapter 7...I oh to the link and I don't see where to click!
  12. Do you guys think he has a secret user name and trolls the forums? I know I would. Let's have a contest to ferret out his true identity!!!! My guess is Moogle!!!!
  13. I just think with the fact that both Shallon and Jasnah have actual Spren interaction...they should have both IMO said the first ideal by now...whether or not they know it. Maybe not though. But Jasnah seems pretty "strong" in her abilities to have not said it.
  14. Ok I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy because I couldn't remember anyone saying it...
  15. Ok...so I've tried searching unsuccessfully but when do any of our surge binding characters actually say the first ideal? Dumb question? I'm allowed one per day.
  16. So I'm going to make some connections here and leave it open ended as a question that obviously can't be answered now, but should stir some interesting conversation. Shallan obviously has some pretty big secrets (dead father anyone?) which I'm going to make the assumption that everyone agrees is what attracted the Cryptic to her. What is Elhokar's secret? DUM DUM DUMMMMMM...
  17. Interesting conclusion. It has merit, because I'm confused why they had to do what they did where they did it in the manner in which it was done. I would still argue that the Radiants discovered the betrayal of the Heralds , and so there actions were not as you suggest, a slap in the face, but instead a last effort to prevent future desolations. Otherwise, if humans were to just be destroyed, the desolations would have just continued and BS wouldn't have a book to write!
  18. Purely speculation, but I see Darkness as an individual who's sense of right and wrong is warped by odiums taint. He doesn't even realize he's being influenced... A you elaborate on Wyndles ring...that isn't "ringing" a bell. I'd feel pretty confident saying the parshendi were trying to prevent the return on the KR... I'm not sure they are the gods...but maybe.
  19. I'm not sure if I can fully extrapolate bit I'll let the community think... KR gave up shards (presumably to achieve a greater good)... Syl states the shards are evil (more or less)... Armor doesn't glow anymore... Could Darkness evil be attributed to his Shard Blade? Szeths? Have the shards been tainted by odium ala WoT style? I lie awake at night...
  20. Long time lurker and self proclaimed aficionado of modern day science fiction that falls under the category of: "Great writing as determined by me." I had a bit of a light bulb moment when perusing the thread on Radiants and Spren, and I'm not sure if I've seen the question asked...what role did the Spren play in the Day of Recreance, and what were they and the KR trying to accomplish? Rarely do we see an act such as what occurred happen for no reason. I theorize that the KR (and their Spren) gave up both sentience, power, and shards in an attempt to keep a desolation from returning. I'm on my phone so you will have to take me at my word or look up the quotes yourself, but let's look at some evidence. I'll start with the lynch pin for me. In the other KR/Spren thread, Brandon answers a question concerning Spren sentience. He states something to the effect that some could become sentient but for the choices they made... What choice? To save the world? I think so. Something has happened to allow the Nahel Bond to begin again...was this what the par agenda were trying to stop? By living the codes and preaching the way of kings, you were asking for the KR to rise again, taking back the power to stop the desolation. Darkness also states that they are messing with powers that could bring about a desolation. Wyndle talks about his people ...which implies more then sentience... Anyways my finger is tired, and I didn't proof read. Good luck, and thanks for reading!
