  1. It's a multiple of 16.
  2. 1) Is Szeth's Oathstone a fabrial? 2) Does Szeth get his Windrunning abilities from/because of a fabrial? 3) Does Shardplate interfere with Szeth's Windrunning because he isn't a Knight Radiant or is there some other reason?
  3. That's for burning metal your spiked with. What the OP is talking about is simply burning a Hemalurgically imbued metal. @OP I Think you mean: A Lerasium/Atium Alloy metalmind; Spiked through TLR; And awakened by the God King using Divine Breath.
  4. Chaos, here's the citation you need RE: Ruin or Preservation fueling all the metallic arts.
  5. Quoted below are the three post on the GoodReads Warbreaker Q&A where most of (if not all of) the information we know about Splinters (and Slivers) comes from.
  6. Brightlord/Brightlady/Brightness are Alethkar titles/formalities for addressing a noble. All Lighteyes are automatically nobles and outrank all Darkeyes. High ranking Darkeyes are permitted to marry low ranking Lighteyes but do not become nobles when they do. There are a total of 22 known classes in Vorin society (10 noble, 10 non-noble, and 2 slave classes). In order, from highest to lowest ranking, they are: First through Tenth Dahn (Lighteyes), First through Tenth Nahn (Darkeyes), Parshmen, and Sas Nahn. It is possible for individuals and families to move up down within their respective grouping (Nahn/Dahn). Those who are declared to be Sas Nahn have glyphs branded on there foreheads permanently marking them as Sas Nahn. It is unknown whether a Lighteyes can become Sas Nahn or if there is a Sas Dahn equivalent for them.
  7. IIRC If an Allomancer burns Lerasium the power granted by the Lerasium is added on to whatever power they already have.
  8. When Sazed said there was still two unknown metals he was referring to the base metals, each of which also has an alloy, bringing us to 16 allomantic (and feruchemical/hemalurgic) metals. There are also two "God Metals" (Atium & Lerasium) about which very little is known. Malatium is one of an unknown number of Atium alloys (Atium+gold).
  9. Metaspren: Also known as Sprenspren, Metaspren are attracted to large gatherings of other spren. Their actual appearance is unknown as they attempt to blend in with the group. A Metaspren can be easily identified by it's rough shape and off colours. For yet unknown reasons, Metaspren are shunned by all other spren, including other Metaspren.
  10. Inkthinker posted the image Brandon mentions in the interview over on TWG along with a little explanation, so I thought I'd post it over here as well.
  11. I wonder, could the fact that Ruin's "lake" is under the Pits off Hathsin be the reason why Atium forms there. This could also explain why using Allomancy around the pits destroys the Atium crystals; it creates a direct conflict between Preservation and Ruin's powers, a sort of collision between two pressure waves of opposing magical energies. Somebody needs to go through any scenes that mention using Allomancy at the pits and look for any clues as to if this may be the case, perhaps evidence of Allomantic power being weaker there. Expanding even further on the idea that having a Shard's "lake" underground produces and effect in the ground, maybe Endowment's lake is under T'Telir and that's why the Tears of Edgli only grow there.
  12. Thank you Chaos, that was it. I thought there was probably an apostrophe but decided not to put it in given Brandon's aversion to fantasy clich
  13. I have transcribed most* of the interview - including um's, uh's, stuttering and other such things - that the folks in charge of The 17th Shard did back in August and placed it in a publicly viewable Google doc (the whole thing is well over 8000 words and would require 23 post to contain it on the forums). I have also posted these links over on TWG along with a link to the to the interview. Transcript: http://tinyurl.com/17th-Shard-Transcript Direct Link: https://docs.google.com/document/edit?id=1CLbNI75ALivItrWXy03c0Mh2ASDeF5jAV1y5eEA8Udw&hl=en_GB&pli=1# Cleaned-Up Transcript (done by Ryan): http://www.17thshard.com/news/?p=48 *There were a couple things barely caught by the mics that I just couldn't make out as well as one case where a race from an un-published book was mentioned, the spelling of which I had to guess.
  14. In the part 2 interludes (p. 448, U.S. hardcover) Szeth cuts out a section of a roof and then lashes it "towards the northwest section of the sky". This could be the location of a moon or, as the wording implies, he may have lashed it in a general direction instead of to a specific object. He also mentions lashing himself in specific directions at times as well.
  15. Maybe it wasn't to done to change the weather. This is a BIG if but, what if the Chasmfiends pupate into Thunderclasts theory is right. Then maybe the Voidbringers created the Shattered Plains specifically as a habitat for Chasmfiends and Thunderclasts and any changes to the weather were just side effects. Also nobody knows what, if anything, exists in the centre of The Plains. We do know, however, that the Tower has a very different landscape than the rest of the plains. Perhaps this is because it is topped by a massive pile equally massive gems, or maybe just one
  16. What if it was done by a Voidbringer, or a group of Voidbringers? They can hold Stormlight in perfectly and could therefor spend months, or even years gathering enough Stormlight and then just let 'r 'rip, so to speak, at any time.
