  1. Are there any Marvel fans here? Have you seen the new TV show Marvel's Agents of Shield? It's awesome to see how movies and TV are interacting in this show.
  2. Magician was my favorite. Some of his others were good. For some reason, I really didn't enjoy the Empire Books. I tired, but just couldn't get into them.
  3. I have a lot of favorites. Also, I like reading series (Branden Sanderson, Robert Jordan, David Eddings, Patrick Rothfuss, Rick Riordan, etc). A few of the books that I re-read quite a bit would be: Sojourn by R.A. Salvatore - (special because it introduced me to fantasy) The Way of Kings by Branden Sanderson Hard Contact by Karen Traviss Covenants by Lorna Freeman
  4. Thank you Argent for the information. Thank you Kurkistan for your welcome. mistrunner, I would have to say that The Way of Kings is my favorite Brandon Sanderson book. The more you reread it, the more you notice interesting tidbits.
  5. The book talked about how Epics personality changed when using epic powers. They become "brasher, more arrogant, even more hateful." However, they describe Conflux as not "the least bit provocative. He actually seemed pleasant." If not using epic powers makes you more normal, would gifting them away make you go in the opposite direction of arrogant, brash, and hateful? Sure, Prof still hates, as in Steelheart, but he doesn't seem to be hateful in general.
  6. I wonder if David suggesting that Steelheart was the only person unafraid was a misdirect. During the final confrontation between Steelheart and David, David has a revelation about Steelneart's weakness. "An awareness opened my mind, like the burning radiance of the sun itself. I knew. I understood." It doesn't explicitly say, but from the context, I wonder if David, knowing he is going to die, loses his fear of Steelheart. David goes on to say that he killed Steelheart. David used the blocked gun barrel as the delivery system to kill Steelheart. "I've seen him die in an inferno, and I was the one who killed him. Yes, the hand that pushed the detonator was his own, but I don't care - and have never cared - which hand actually took his life. I made it happen. I've got his skull to prove it." David's father, unafraid of Steelheart, fires the bullet that harms Steelheart. David, unafraid knowing he is going to die, blocks the barrel using the gun as the delivery system to kill Steelheart.
  7. Hello. I first read Brandon Sanderson in the Mistborn series. I was already a fan of the Wheel of Time series and was excited to learn that Mr. Sanderson had been chosen to complete Robert Jordan's series. I have read the Way of Kings and am enjoying the re-read at Tor.com. I finished Steelheart last night. I am interested in learning more about the cosmere. I did not realize this was in his books until I started following the Way of Kings re-read at Tor.com.
