Long Game 22: Corenne al'Daishar
Gamma Fiend replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Do people know when they're being controlled by the Ta'veren? What happens if a Ta'veren controls a Chaneller? What happens if they control the Forsaken? What happens if Padan Fain is controlled? Are Thief-Takers and White Cloaks affected by Ta'veren? If you're vanilla, do the Ta'veren control your dragon fang? Some clarifications for Ta'veren! No, you aren't notified if targeted by a Ta'veren Ta'veren redirects all actions, including any channeler weaves, forsaken kills, and corruption choices. Pending no roleblocks, of course. Since thief-takers and whitecloaks send in actions during the day, they can not be redirected by Ta'veren And yes, the Dragon Fang can be redirected by Ta'veren. Also, for any lynch votes, I'd prefer it if you greened out any retracted votes in the original post with it, just so I'm not counting a bunch of red votes to cross out later on, but I won't penalize any votes that aren't and will make sure to doublecheck on all reds and greens. Thank you! -

For mayor votes, just uncolor them. So I'll only count the ones that are in orange at the end of the cycle. -

Heh apologies if you weren't trying to vote for yourself right there! I just saw Meta's post asking if that would've counted or not and went ahead and colored it to not miss it later, just in case! And Mayor Votes work the same as lynch votes, and can be retracted or changed as need be, just make sure you fix the coloring. I only count Orange votes for the Mayor. And the Mayor can be changed everyday, if that's how the vote goes. Remember that the Mayor can use their powers on the cycle they get elected. (So I'll have the Mayor's vote automatically count for extra -- just in case somebody's not on when they get voted last second in the cycle and can't get an order in -- or they can place the order during the day if they want to change a vote. -

A quick couple rule updates I just want to make sure everybody sees! The Ta'veren can not redirect actions to themselves, or have the player target themselves. Padan Fain's ability goes on The Stack after Roleblocks, but before Kills take place Thief-taker and Wolfbrother are indeed Village-only roles, but can be Corrupted by Padan Fain One action is submitted per player, per cycle If you are not placing an action during the Night, still let me know with 'No Action' (if you have actions to submit, that is) Submitting a Dragon's Fang does count as an action and a target (For thief-taker and roleblocks) Mayors can be voted in with 1 vote if there isn't anyone else with a Vote for them. And Mayor votes can be placed in Orange. (I will not count any that aren't, as I won't be able to see them when tallying up votes) -

Long Game 22, Day 1: The Color of Trust Today was the day. As soon as Twim woke up in the morning, that thought had popped into his head, the last vague impression left on him from the horrible nightmare that had continued to plague him. Those dreams just aren't bloody natural, he thought to himself for the hundredth time today, as the sun finished setting in the sky, the purple of dusk starting to slowly fade itself into the black of night. He had heard disturbing rumors and hushed talk between the villagers when they thought nobody was listening, conspiring secretly about the dreams that had been plaguing the entire village, not just the Mayor. And it was always the same, disturbing images of blood and gore, neighbor stabbing neighbor. Of trollocs and halfmen roaming freely through the streets, cutting down and destroying everything living. Visions of the entire village of Drell's Crossing going up in a great conflagration, the flames soaring up ever higher and higher into the night sky, waiting to be swallowed whole by the darkness waiting above. Or was there a shape hiding above in the darkness, somehow an even darker shade of midnight? Mayor Twim didn't like to dwell on such thoughts, lest they put him even more on edge than he usually was. The unseen eyes were back, watching from the shadows. Waiting. He didn't know how he was so certain, but he knew it was there.... whatever it was. The Dark One was bound by the Creator at the moment of creation, when the Wheel of Time was set in motion, he told himself the old catechism, repeating it again for what also seemed like the hundredth time that day. But he told himself it wasn't just paranoid fancy that made him start carrying his old sword again. The heron-marked blade had raised more than a few eyebrows from when Twim had lugged the trunk out from under his bed and brought it to The Golden Dagger. But a hard glare from Twim had silenced the unspoken questions and comments, making people lower the heads, peering back into their cups of wine and ale, as if to find the answers at the bottom of the glass. Twim had never seen the villagers so on edge before, everybody glancing askew at each other from the corners of their eyes, always trying to keep their eye on everybody, and the front door, while keeping their backs to the wall so nobody could sneak up behind them. It was as if the entire village was a dried out stack of hay and straw, and all it was going to take was one stray flame or spark to ignite the entire thing. Mayor Twim saw this happening, and felt the sudden urge to just.... give up and leave. Why should he try and get these people to trust each other? Despite all of his instincts screaming at him to open his mouth and say something, to do something, to tell these people they had no reason for the paranoia and suspicion. Nothing had even happened yet! But.... he just couldn't do it. Every time he tried to form the words, his mind slowed, as if trying to press through a thick, dense fog that formed into a wall every time he pressed against it. But no. That was wrong. Blood and flaming ashes! He screamed to himself, unable to form the words in his mind, covering his head in his hands and shaking his head. It was then that the rest of the villagers started to notice something was wrong, as more people began to take notice of him and his struggles. He saw concern and worry written on those faces. Not fear and confusion, not apathy. This village still had a chance to fight back against..... whatever was wrong. But it was then that the doorway banged open, turning every head to the silhouetted stranger shrouded in shadow standing in the door frame. They pointed a finger at the nearest person to them and shouted, "It was them, it's their fault!" Before darting back out into the night before anybody could even catch a glimpse of their face. It was enough. The inn's common room exploded like an illuminator's nightflower. Neighbors and friends were instantly at each others' throats, hurling insults and accusations, blaming them for actions that hadn't even been committed yet! Mayor Twim yelled out, trying to sort everything out and order back to the situation, to try and get everyone to calm down. Before anything that couldn't be undone happened. He stepped forward, getting ready to draw his blade -- just to grab everyone's attention -- when he felt the dagger slide into his back, forcing the words and the wind right out of him. "Oof," was all he managed, his legs giving out underneath him as he felt the hot, wet pain slowly begin to spread throughout his body. He could feel the burning as it worked it's way through him and to his heart, he could feel the dark, horrible hatred pulsing putrid evil through his veins. His vision began to swim black, as he distantly heard heard the shouting and chaos still going on above him, nobody seemed to notice as his skin slowly drained of color, his wound began to rot and ooze out a horrible black death. The death and shadow that was waiting for his village. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day 1 begins! Day 1 will last 48hours, or until 9PM EST, Saturday, June4th! You can vote for each other on who to lynch, and can also decide on a new mayor for the village! Remember that you can not create any PMs until the Night begins! I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of Warders or Ta'veren roles in this game, but I acknowledge the possibility that they could. I will work on getting PMs out as soon as possible, and feel free to PM me if there are any issues, questions, concerns, etc. Or if you want a Spec Doc. Best of luck everybody!- 1693 replies

Alright, close enough! Sign-ups are officially closed! The Cycle will Start at 8pm and I'll work on getting out PMs and Docs as quickly as possible after the game begins! Remember that PMs can only be made during Night Cycles, and only while a Dreamwalker lives. When any PMs are created make sure I am included in them as well. Thank you and good luck! Dovie'andi se tovya sagain! Edit: 8PM EST. So ~15mins. Or when I get the write-up finished. -

Around 2 hours left to go until Day 1 starts and PMs and Roles get sent out! And I'll decide to not be a super troll GM and I'll go ahead and let you know about this before the game begins... You have unlocked the Secret Hidden Role, The Ta'veren! Ta'veren: The Wheel Weaves as the Wheel Wills. Except when you're involved, as people have always told you how the Pattern of the Wheel seems to bend around you, either forcing you or those near you to take different actions and choices they wouldn't have otherwise. Once per night you can target a player and re-direct their actions to another player of your choice (Not yourself) Edit: OPs updated with new Roles/Rules, and an updated player list. -

Who? Me? Why I would never do anything like that.... Also, great timing, with 2 games just ending! Plenty of time for people to sign up for this game still! -
Well played, villagers! Gammax can finally rest easy without any of the painful memories. I do say, this was one of the games I was actually looking forward to being villagers, lol, but alas, we see how the dice turn out. I do want to check out the book series, as a result of this game, and I did love a lot of the different powers and all the crazy interactions and shenannigans. XD Apologies to my team for not going for the WGG earlier, it would have been so worth it!

Mayor Twim Cabelen groaned with effort as he finished hauling the last giant sack of dirt out of the wheelbarrow and plopping it down onto the ground, a large puff of dust and dirt spitting up into the air on impact. He stoop upright, fishing his lucky kerchief out of his back pocket, wiping the streams of sweat rolling down his brow and into his eye. By the light is it a hot one today, Twim silently cursed, tucking the kerchief away and donning his hat. It was a nice straw hat, finely woven and with a low, wide brim, perfect for getting any comfort you could while toiling underneath that bloody sun. Twim had always been a fine upstanding Queen's man, born and raised in Andor through and through. Despite most people saying he took after his mother, with his mop of unruly darker hair -- almost black -- and the matching dark eyes and hooked nose, no, he was always mistaken for a Saldean instead of Andoran. But he had been born and raised a Queen's man, through and through. Why, he had even gone and fought off the bloody, savage aiel in the Aiel Invasion about.... Had that really been twenty years ago? Twim thought to himself with a start. That war had left many scars, and not all were visible. The Wheel weave as the Wheel wills. He thought with a silent prayer to the Creator. It seemed like time had a way of flowing by, passing unseen until next thing you knew it was two decades later and you were the bloody mayor of some bloody small village in the middle of disputed territory. The village of Drell's Crossing was situated right along the bank of the River Erinin, with the large, expanding Braem's Woods a handful of leagues to the north, Drell's crossing was right on the ever-fluxuating borders of either Camelyn, or Cairhien, depending on who's maps you looked at and what part of the year. That made the town no stranger to the dangerous game of Daes Dae'Mar. The Great Game that the Nobles and houses -- great or small -- seemed to play in their sleep, smiling at each other with false grins and open suspicion and bold lies, meanwhile stabbing each other in the back with no remorse. No, Twim was no stranger to that dangerous game. With a vague sense of deja vu, shaking the sudden images from his dreams before, Twim refused to acknowledge the bloody, horrible visions from his mind. Flaming ashes, next thing you know you'll be looking over your shoulder the bloody Dragon Reborn,he laughed to himself, dispelling the foolish thoughts and waving amiably toward the strolling villagers walking by. By the light, he was the flaming mayor, he told himself. He can't be spooking himself out because of bloody dreams and silly, rogue thoughts. Despite not being able to shake the itching sensation of eyes at his back, staring like daggers out of the darkness, waiting in the shadows. But he wasn't going to let that show, and he would remain stalwart and resolute, giving the people of the village a leader to look forward to and lead them through whatever lay ahead. The winter had been long, seeming to drag on and on, freezing and beating the crops down again and again, giving the smallest yields from harvest Twim had ever seen. Wolves had roamed freely and harassed farmers and even the village sometimes, running up in the dark of night, slaughtering any sheep or cattle, or anything edible, then slinking away, rejoining the packs off in the hills, howling their eerie song to the moon and keeping the villagers up long into the night. But he wasn't going to let himself think about that, or all of the new strangers seeming to show up in town recently, and more of them hanging around than usual. At first, Twim had taken them for Hunters for the Horn, some fool kid or wannabe adventurer always set out every year to go seek the legendary Horn of Valere, a mythical golden horn whose beautiful music was said to be able to bring back all of the dead Heroes throughout the Ages, and call them to battle to fight evil and darkness. Twim hoped the next didn't exist, or at least if it did, it was never found. Because it was said that it would be used to fight The Dark One at Tarmon Gai'don, The Final Battle. But the Dark One was sealed in time at the moment of creation by the Creator, him and the 13 Forsaken. He remembered all of the terrible stories growing up, the legends of the Dragon. Lews Therin Telamon. A name used to scare children -- and grown men, even if they didn't want to admit it -- ever since The Breaking. The arrogance of man, and the Dark One's backlash, forever tainting the male half of the one power, Saidin, driving all men crazy and forever changing the world, bringing civilization and mankind to the brink of extinction. But the perseverance of man, and many would say the Aes Sedai, the female channelers who wield the female source of power, Saidar. Twim knew better himself, and knew to avoid Aes Sedai at all cost. They may always tell you the truth, but it might not be the truth you think you're hearing, and it will cost you more than you ever thought you agreed to, that's what his father had taught him, and that's what he believed. He might be a good Queen's man, and everybody knew the Queen used an Aes Sedai advisor, but that was court, and politics. And Daes Dae'mar, of course. Everybody knew the power of the White Tower, and knew to never cross a delegate of Tar Valon. But Twim couldn't let any of that distract him, of course. He had a village to attend to and take care of, despite the nagging feeling and growing sense of paranoia he just couldn't shake. The Wisdom kept telling him there was a storm coming, despite the sun being sunny without a cloud in the sky. Mayor Twim couldn't quite disagree. Don't mind me, just getting some RP in before the game begins, help get some of the setting and exposition set up to help people out, and get the creative juices flowing!- 1693 replies

Long Game 22: Corenne al'Daishar
Gamma Fiend replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Welcome to the forums! You've picked a good game to get started on! To help you get used to things, here's a link to the General Rules of the Sanderson Elimination games we run here in this section of the forums, and here's a link to the Rules of the 17th Shard in general, which are always in effect in these games as well. Good luck and have fun! Also feel free to ask if you have any other questions on getting started. Edit: Also it never hurts for all of our players to review the Etiquette Policies we have in effect here as well, before the game begins and murder and betrayal start flying around! -
Long Game 22: Corenne al'Daishar
Gamma Fiend replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Good question. I'll say no, as you won't get detained until the night cycle when actions go through. The Whitecloak just decides to target you during the day. Also got more updates and clarifications in the OP and 2nd post. Read carefully! -
Long Game 22: Corenne al'Daishar
Gamma Fiend replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
A slight Rule Change I want everyone to be aware of before the game begins! The Whitecloak role now sends in their action during the Day cycle, declaring who they want to target during the Night. And a preemptive clarification: In any instances of a Whitecloak jailing a Dreamwalker who enters the dream world that night, the Dreamwalker still goes there, and can still be targeted by the Forsaken and killed, but only the Forsaken can target them. -

Long Game 22: Corenne al'Daishar
Gamma Fiend replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The game can run with any amount of players, really. So there's no minimum or maximum cap, per se, it's just the sign-ups usually last about a week or so, so these will end roughly sometime Thursday night. That being said, the more players to sign-up, the merrier! And for added extra incentive, I'll let you all know the mark I'm trying to hit is ~25+ players to include the warder role! (And once again, the OP will announce if the Warder Role is included or not) -
Idea I just started thinking of for a QF. And everybody will kick themselves for not thinking of this game sooner. Believe it! I think that's a good start though so far! What you all think?
-
There's definitely no rule or discouragement of newer players getting on the list for GM'ing! We'll get you added to the list as soon as you let us know which you decided on! And don't worry about the amount of games playing at once, that's just the new schedule we've switched to for what games are running, and how many at a time, etc. So there'll definitely be game overlap happening, but the faster schedule lets for more games to be played! The first two posts in the General Rules thread has a good breakdown of the nuances of the different game formats to help you decide which one would be best for you, and it also has a link to the Master Doc we use to keep track of the GM lists as the currently stand, to give you a better idea of how long each list is. But like I said, the schedule we run does let a lot more games run in a faster period of time now, and with a constantly moving list of the GMs with people's availability and real-life factors, you can be running a game before you know it!
-
Do you at least know what format you want to run the game in? Long game, Mid-range, or Quick Fix? So then we cold at least get you and whomever you get as a co-GM added to the appropriate list and PMs

Gammax finally knew his purpose. He knew what he was supposed to do, and who he was. He was born to die. And he reveled in it. The rest of the encampment had been set up as a perimeter around him, all those snarling, accusing faces keeping a close eye on him. Multiple guards were stationed around him, with more and more people coming by every hour to join in the frenzy. And Gammax gloried in every moment of it. He waited until there were as many people around him as possible, waiting for the best moment to strike. He may have told them he was a traitor, and they weren't taking any chances. But they seemed to have forgotten about his furies. Fire was by far his weaker of the furies he possessed. But in earth he was quite proficient. Not a master, he had learned the hard way, but enough so that he had learned a few tricks. Or remembered them. Now that he had accepted his fate -- to be killed by his peers -- his memories didn't seem to plague him as much. He wasn't as haunted. Instead, he'd take out all of his anger and mistrust, all of his anguish and fury and give it a purpose. To die. He heaved up a surge of earth magic, throwing the ground up into the air, tossing chunks of dirt and rocks about like a handful of pebbles around him. He didn't have enough skill to aim it and try and maim or injure anybody. No, that wasn't his goal. It was a distraction. For as everybody was recovering from the sudden blast of magical energy, Gammax was running, dodging in between captors and sentries trying to grab and tackle him. He may not be strong in fire, but he was strong enough. He sent small streams of flame, tickling patches of cloth and tents around him, igniting any flamable material he left in his wake as he fled. He smelled the smoke before he heard the first whoosh of flames as the dung wagon caught aflame, igniting almost instantly as the fire tickled the straw. The smell certainly reflects this campsite quite accurately, Gammax giggled to himself, as he hurled another fireball behind him, dodging behind a wall of earth he tossed up on the perimeter of the camp, ducking behind and leaving shouts and panics of alarm behind him. He looked up at the sky, and marked the setting sun. He had a few hours left to live. Plenty of time to die properly; as he needed to. Gotta love having fun with the RP! And keep the votes coming, Gammax will thank ya for it later! (P.S., Hail Hydra!)

Gammax sighed. It looked like there was no avoiding it. It's not even my bloody fault, he thought, blaming the memories once again for his predicament. How was he to blame, when he woke up not knowing who he was, or where in the great furies he even was. But they put a knife in his hand, and told him he'd know what to do. And the part that scared him most was that he did know what to do. Those bloody memories, once again. Lexa and Heaven were friends. Gammax might not have known who they were, exactly, but that didn't stop them from calling him comrade. Allies together, trying to inflict their fury on the unsuspecting camp, preventing them from ever returning. He was sure his memories could tell him why that was important, but he found he couldn't really care anymore. He was surrounded. And worst of all, he still didn't even know how he got here. He drew in earth energy, pulling the ground up around himself, trying to protect him from whatever would come next. He then held up a hand, focusing his energy. His anger. His fury. Straining himself and pushing as hard as he could, he flung a hand out towards Dominus. "This is all your fault!" He yelled, the burning fury within coalescing into a burning ball of fire in his hand, the swirling chaotic flames reflecting the storm within himself. "I had no choice! I didn't even know who I was!" His voice reached a frantic pitch of hysteria, the spinning flames reflecting wheels of fire in his eyes. The fire launched from his hand, a missile flying straight towards it's target. And then the fireball sputtered out and died before even reaching halfway to Dominus, the flames just puffing out of existence in a flash of smoke. Gammax cried out and collapsed to the ground, falling onto one knee to hold himself up, his head hung in defeat. "If only I was stronger....." he moaned, his voice wavering desperation and anguish. "I just...... I needed more time. Then I could've known." He looked up, staring Dominus straight in the eyes. And a small grin appeared over his face. "I think.... I think I understand the memories now. This all seems familiar. It feels.... right. Like I've been here before and this is how it's supposed to happen. I finally have peace. And I thank you for that." Now you guys just need to start wondering whether I have a secret role that needs me to get lynched or not.

I had already explained why I switched my vote with Fire1 here, when I asked you to respond. I was suspicious of Phatt as well, hence the vote, but as the cycle kept going it didn't really look like anybody had tried defending Phatt, or charging the vote in any other direction, so I was a lot less suspicious of him. Reason why I switched my vote with Fire instead of in thread was so the vote wouldn't be swayed by any Traitor F1 manipulation in case they had it, I'd rather have dictated the lynch than let them sneak it in. While I realize now it basically accomplished exactly that, I thought that was the best move to make at the time. I've only been in contact with Mailliw the whole game, he has been the only person to PM me this whole time. And I'm obviously not just going to trust him implicitly, so I decided to use my powers how I best thought they should be used. I don't really have the luxury of a secret PM group dictating my actions for me, so I'm going to make mistakes. My bad? I'm starting to be really skeptical of all these PMs flying around, especially with Winter being in so many of them. I honestly don't think we should just clear anybody simply for the fact Winter PMd them. Yeah, they wouldnt really do that if they had an Eliminator doc to talk in.... but that's also the expected move. So why not create a huge public display of PM'ing chaos and the talks of middlemen, etc to lay down a false trail? Just saying, we shouldn't give somebody complete trust just simply based off of that fact alone. #UrbainParanoia As far as my main suspicions and thread analysis, I'll get to that a bit later whenever I can. Gotta go start putting in a stormload of applications for a new job online before I can do anything else.
