  1. Ok thanks. I just found a WoB on Corruption. It isn't the clearest, but I think this means Corruption means you're adding additional, foreign investiture. For example, I think Autonomy was Corrupting Harmony by investing him. (somehow)
  2. So in the real world some people (like me) believe in the soul whereas a materialist would not. In the cosmere, the natural world includes the cognitive and spiritual realms. So a materialist equivalent in the cosmere like Jasnah would believe that you are your body plus cognitive aspect plus spirit web, whereas Dalinar would probably believe you have a additional 4th part of your self more disconnected from the tangible world. (rant) This is why I don't like how "spirit-web" and "soul" are interchangeable terms. It would be better to just use "spirit" as a synonym for/ shortened version of "spirit-web" since it exists in the literal spiritual realm. Additionally, it would fit with real world philosophy as the soul and spirit are considered separate things by some, (I don't know/remember why) and then no one would get confused over this question because we'd have the spiritual realm ideals of these terms
  3. The part about using Ruin's power to fuel Allomancy makes sense. I'm still confused as to whose investiture is charging the spike. Is the investiture's Shardic Intent (if that makes sense. I forget if that's the right term.) flipped from Preservation to Ruin? Is it Preservation plus a bit of Ruin? I guess I just don't understand what Corruption means in the Cosmere. Like I have the same questions for Glys. (Is he made of Honor/Cultivation, Odium or all three?)
  4. When you spike an allomancer, you should be storing Preservation's investiture. Why then are the Mists and the Well of Ascension repelled by hemalergy? Does the investiture somehow become Ruin's?
  5. I don't know what "entertainment discussions" are, but as for getting a power, the 10th heightening wouldn't hurt, but that's probably cheating. More realistically I'd probably do 1) Gravitation for flight and high speed travel, 2) Bondsmith Adhesion for those sweet, sweet Spiritual Realm Connection shenanigans, or 3) Progression because I can heal people. I like the Dustbringer ideals. Responsibility and self control are the cornerstones of further virtue.
  6. Ok thanks everyone! Would it be fair to say that Allomantic Savantism: 1) Boosts power by molding your soul into a more efficient conduit for Preservation's investiture, and 2) Allows you to intuitively use your powers in more nuanced and creative ways?
  7. If Spook gained for example the ability to make hearing extra strong while dulling sight, that would seem more "skillful," but he seems to just get more powerful. As for bronze, a wider range or the ability to pierce copperclouds also seems like a power boast, not skill. Can someone show me where I'm wrong?
  8. I finished the Cosmere, besides three books, a year ago, but I was completely finished ~6 months ago.
  9. I'm a fellow Cosmere and WoT fan.
