I had to keep putting my ereader down at that part because I was totally convinced that Adolin was going to lose and the Kholins would be totally Shardless.Add in the character development from Gaz. The bit near the end where Shallan thought he might have vanished again only for him to turn up with the book was just great. He was so proud of himself for getting it.

The point where Navani finally thaws out to Shallan. The poor girl needs a non-murderous mother figure. Rysn's interlude. Shallan finally using her shardblade. Most of the Kaladin-Shallan interactions. Special points awarded to any mention of the boots, and the reasons they are glad to be in the chasm. Did anyone else think "It's dangerous to go alone, take this." when she loaned him Pattern?

Theoryland and Coppermine are giving different timelines for the books. I'm leaning towards theoryland (which puts Warbreaker well after Stormlight Archive) since that wouldn't require Vasher wandering away from his post Warbreaker plothook.

Maybe she kicked him out of their latest closet sized apartment for being grumpy?

When it comes to Syl and Pattern interacting, I think the dislike is a generalization. She didn't seem afraid or angry that she saw a Cryptic, although I've been up for far too long reading and can't remember the specifics. Also if Syj can encourage Kal to get over his hatred of lighteyes then he can push her to do the same with Pattern. Spren need character growth too.

To be fair to Shallan, someone going on (rather hysterically) about how you were all going to die while you were trying to figure out how to not die would be distracting. He had been sent to protect her group and he was pretty much doing less than nothing to live up to that. Yes, Renarin did a lot of brave things in the book, but in that moment he was cracking under the stress. I would have wanted him to shut up as well, before he caused other people to give up.

If release order roughly relates to cosmere chronology, then Words of Radiance takes place after Warbreaker and before Nightblood (the planned sequel). Maybe that is why the July 2013 State of the Sanderson put Nightblood's release date as 'fairly far off'?

So I am AJ. Very new to the Sanderson fandom, was introduced to his awesome via Wheel of Time (he pretty much converted me with the epicness that was Pevara and Androl). I just finished Way of Kings and am trying to get my hands on Elantris through my library (ILL-ing it, wait is going to be painful). I'm trying to fight the reading withdraws by hanging out here. Also I think jumping spiders are cute.

Shallan and Szeth are too obvious for going evil, and Shallan has already made progress away from being a thief/probably justified murderer. How much detail do we have on the "one of them will destroy us" bit? Could it be an accident? Like 'oops, I accidentally unleashed the ancient evil through a series of totally logical/well meaning events' type thing; or is it set in stone that the one will be a full on intentional harbinger of doom type thing? To me, the first would be more interesting (especially if it is Szeth and it is the finally straw for him and his magic rock of ownership). As for shipping, all of the younger guys seem like pretty good men, even if Renarin is a little under developed at the moment, so I would be happy to see Shallan interested in any of them. The contrast between honorable Kaladin and somewhat less so Shallan would be interesting; while both Shallan and Aldoin are both working on the whole honor thing; brother number two maybe this will give him some character or they will be an action girl/nonaction guy duo. Shallan will get action girled next book, I'm almost certain of this.
