I appreciate your help on this, and the excerpt from the book, too. It clearly must’ve been an issue with Michael Kramer’s audio, or editing after the fact.

There may be some missing audio at the end of chapter 40 of The Well of Ascension on Audible. It starts at approximately 32:04. It goes from Vin thinking to herself “otherwise, why would he have needed armies to conquer” to a seemingly separate thought starting with “an initial burst of power, the ability to create…” It sounds like a change in point of view, but as I listen on it’s clearly still Vin thinking to herself about the Lord Ruler. Something happens in the audio, but since I don’t have a physical copy I can’t verify what it is.
