  1. Hey ok so a have a question:

Im making a kata for a performance, with my staff and if y’all could listen to these songs and give me your input that’d be great!

Dance upon the green, but Lyra Vesperi

Frost and Firelight, by Lyra Vesperi

High Court of Faerie by Fae Wildling

    Cruel Prince by Fae Wildling

A feeling we can’t hide by Lyra Vesperi

Ok that’s all I have for now

    Thanks!

      Ok thoughts:

I would be inclined to go with Cruel Prince from those options

The ones by Lyra Vesperi are too fast-paced—I would struggle matching that beat as an empty-hand martial artist, and staff is just naturally slightly slower. Plus, these start too fast and don't have enough slow parts often. You don't really want to start fast and then slow down, because you can lose the audience; it's better to build up and let them see that the slow can be cool. You also don't want to try to be slow when everything in the music is going fast, because it just looks odd.

High Court of Faerie, on the other hand, is almost too slow—there's no build to it, so any energy has to be input solely by you

Cruel Prince has the mix I like best—starting slow, then building up while still keeping a slower low tempo that you can match when you need to slow down for a breather.

These are solely my own opinions, and need not be taken as fact obviously

      Thank you.
I like Cruel Prince, it’s the best one so far, but the undertone to the Lyra Vesperi ones are super fun.
I like the drumbeat underneath it, it’s easy to match my steps too.
Going for the entirety at that speed is pretty draining though.
