  1. Windrunner, with Edgedancer as a close second. I was going to ask yours then realized you had it in your signature! Is there any forum etiquette regarding signature tags like I've seen? i.e. I know I'm a Windrunner, Ravenclaw, etc. - is there any additional meaning behind that in this forum or just good to go and add them in?
  2. Hm, I think the most practical for me would be Bendalloy-A/Zinc-F. You'd likely be able to "cheat" the mental speed by using a speedbubble to allow you to tap only a small amount for a greater chronological effect. It's not really a cheat since you're still using up investiture. Though, Iron or Steel allomancy would be fun, and Brass feruchemy would be great for summers where I live, and could save a ton on electrical bills for the AC.
  3. Hm, that's a good question. There are a few specific places that are spoilers. I have light enough eyes that any of the Vorin lands are probably not a bad bet for me when it comes to being able to get around and not be thrown in jail for breaking a random law (like would probably happen in Azir), though 100% chance they'd call me Shin. If I have to pick one, I'll probably go for Alethkar just because it feels more interesting to me. If I could study with an Artifabrian that would be awesome.
  4. Hey all, I've been referencing these forums for a while but figured I needed to get properly involved. I'm up to speed on all published Cosmere works (most with a few rereads done as well) and I'm starting to work my way through the unpublished ones when I can. I'm really interested in learning a great deal about the various magic systems and realmatics at a technical level to try to work it into a Cosmere RPG campaign I'm plotting. I'm involved in the Cosmere RPG discord, but I'll need to know a great deal more - most of my table will have a pretty strong physics background (as do I), including one who wants to be an Artifabrian, so I'll need to be able to say what will and what won't work - and why; same goes for surges. I'm also looking to homebrew in some additional stuff with the other magic systems, so understanding them a little better will help with that.
  5. I know it's more than a year later, but I stumbled across this thread while doing research on this to try to create a chart to help my players come up with mechanics for Fabrials for the new Cosmere RPG. Like Firesong suggested, I also concluded that Midnight and another aether are outside the classic 10 essences, almost like "god-aethers" or something else entirely. I also initially placed Sunlight + Chach together for the same reason, but came across a potential problem (potential non-problem). All Aethers/Focuses/Essences also corolate to the color of a polestone (which can vary in color, such as zircon). Chach/Spark corrolate to Ruby/Red. While I'm not decided, I would also hypothesize that it could be an effect similar to using a magnifying glass to cause heat, and that instead Sunlight Aether corrolates to Vev/Diamond/Lucentia. Crimson could also easily be Shash/Blood/Garnet. This is what I've landed on so far, with a heavy part of it hijacked straight from the Ars Arcanum. (EDITTED 2/14/25) However, I'm not wholly convinced that the Aethers do correlate directly, or perhaps more they have a common root and so have similarities but diverge instead. My brain latches onto the idea of a direct 1:1 pattern because PATTERNS! but it might not be so (EDIT: And Sanderson has said as much)
