My opinions on software based on how it makes money:
1. Pay for it
1.1. Pay For Permission. One time pay, but it can be rescinded at any time. See: Nintendo. My opinion: BAD BAD BAD
1.2. Subscription: Cmon, just let me buy it! Some things I understand, but most things I just want to straight-up buy.
1.3. One-Time-Payment: This is good. This means the company has some morals. You pay for it, then you have the product.2. 'Free'
2.1. Ads. You are the product. Use adblockers, VPNs, and turn down cookies, but these are despicable.
2.2. In-App Purchases. Pay-to-win. That's all they will ever be. You can try to have fun, but the only way to have real fun is to pay for 100 'gems'
2.3. Open Source. The ideal version. They don't make money. Community driven, usually only thrives on donations. See: Wikipedia, Blender, Linux, ect. I sometimes put things with ads here, but very rarely. When getting software: Is it free? Yes-[Is it open source? Yes-[You can get it.] No-[Don't get it]] No-[Is it one-time Pay, and you actually own the product? Yes-[Get it] No-[Don't get it]]
