I would say my favorite character is Kaladin.  

Least favorite is Amaram. Closely followed by Gavilar, but Amaram is such a slontze.

My favorite—though this is likely not popular opinion—is Lift. Apparently, Brandon really likes her too, but I've heard lots of people saying she's a real turnoff due to her immaturity. She's young, and young people are typically childish. I've been so happy to see her in the books following Edgedancer. She's a nice change for me from the very serious characters that tend to fill most of the book.

As for my least favorite, it might be Shallan. RoW spoil:

It's her multiple and changing personalities and the constant hiding of Shallan. I do like the mystery of what is going on and wondering who is doing things, but I'm really hoping that the supposed real Shallan returns.

That said, I don't dislike her. She's just not as I want her right now.

Was really curious what your favorites/least favorites are too.

I love Lift personally. High on my list. Always love her chapters.

We see both Katara and Toph Mudbend. We see Aang and Katara cloudbend. You're right about Lava though, I that Sozin didn't start the lava flow that got Roku.

Fire is really freaking cool and imo the most therapeutic of the bending styles to master, since you can and almost always do start off very mentally not great and then get to work through that to get better at bending (discounting the psychopath Azula, and even she got worse at bending after she snapped) And so Firebending is good for you.

Earth is also cool, but mostly just for metalbending. Metalbending is sick af. 

I get the draw for water, but I just cant sympathize with it. Just cant vibe with it yk? 

And as for air... too passive. To separate. Im an emotional person that likes to get down in the dirt with people and problems and Im really storming bad at just letting things go. So less the bending itself and more the philosophy there that I cant vibe with.

I mean, besides Immortality in Earth bending, Water bending has 2 of the most OP bendings

Blood bending (I stop all blood in your body, almost instant death) and Spirit Balancing (Let me just remove your soul rq)

Besides those, Earth Bending has Immortality, Seismic Senses, and Metal Bending

Air has the (kinda mid) Flight and (pretty cool) Astral Projection

But Fire has Combustion Bending and Lightning Bending

Earth benders get mole-rats (pretty fire), Water benders look at the sky (eh), Air Benders get Air Bison (HECK YEAH), and Fire Benders get friggin dragons (SUPER DUPER COOL)

but in general, by that logic, Earth Bending just has too many upsides

What about hybrid bending types like lava mud and cloud?

Also. Wouldn't it make sense for lightning to be the hybrid between fire and air? And if its not, what is?

Also, is blood bending literally moving your blood? I always thought of it as more symbolic than that, as like the inverse attitude-wise to healing with water.

Yeah earthbenders would win, and are a very close second for me, if not for lightningbending and dragons.

Fun Fact: Kyoshi was amortal, and amortality is an Earthbending sub-bending type!

And I made a spreadsheet with every (at leats that I could find through the shows and some of the books) sub-bending types, and the 5th one which means it is highly likely there is even more than just 5 because of the lore implications of the turtle islands being able to give more than one, and how the avatar could theoretically devolve into a pokemon trainer, trying to catch all the bending types with Raava

Yes. It sucks. Luckily I have siblings to entertain me and enough autistic/ADHD people in my family to have us leave the table quickly/be allowed to fidget or leave the table.
