  1. “None at all. You?” The woman seemed to be studying the shape behind the mask. @Argenti ”We have blades. They may not be what you are used to, though. The dwarves prefer bludgeons, so you’ll be getting elven blades, taken in the war.” @TwinStorm “I have absolutely no idea. I’m hoping your brands might shed some light on that.”
  2. “Nope. I’m assuming you have combat training, then?” It was the form of a smiling mask. There was a shape behind it, but the shape was unclear.
  3. The Healer looked at her. “Now that’s an interesting brand.” She proffered the mirror, showing a smiling mask. “That’s what I’m guessing at. Who were your family?” “Well… I would tell you you’re about to be free, but… no. I still have use for yall.”
  4. It’s a slightly shifted symbol of the Dawn Empire.
  5. “Beats me!” She narrowed her eyes at Trinn’s brand, but said nothing. “Quite Perceptive! But no, if it’s anyone’s perception, it’s the Chaos.” “Cybernetics? Quite interesting. Come over here.” In the mirror, he saw a brand of [insert brand immabout to pull from character sheet] “Oh cheer up!”
  6. CRAP I MISSED THIS oop ”Your arrogance is astounding.” The smoke - and the fireball - disappeared. Aeon blinked forwards, not yet attacking, but testing his defenses again.
  7. Hhmm… I agree, but I also disagree. They aren’t going to follow the same technological path as we are - just look at Roshar. On the cusp of discovering electricity (Navani noting that “she needed to look into it”), yet already having flying machines. I think that there are large areas of functional overlap, and not everything in that overlap will be developed as electrical things, just as not everything in that overlap will be invested things.
  8. Actually, the reason China had that famine was because they simply pulled all their farmers away from farming and into industry. And the reason Japan was resource hungry was because they were an island. Lotsa silver there, but they weren’t like the British, who had rich coal and iron deposits all over. The thing is, yes, shifting a large portion of the work force is bad, but they weren’t actually technologically backwards. They had subways before the Malwish even appeared, so they already had people doing this. And the Malwish took great pains to give them their own technology, their own power systems, that they didn’t have to actually progress as far to get where they are.
  9. “Most definitely. You are out of the reach of most magics, it seems.” “The brands are actually different for each of you. They’ve been shifting while you slept, but they’ve stabilized now.” They arrived in a small room, and she extracted a mirror from some desk or another. “All right! Who’s first?”
  10. Well, he had a brand on his head, so he was taken by a guard. “That is the question! Yes it is. I was wondering if you could tell me what your Brands mean. Come with me.” She turned, and the guards pushed the group, now complete, after her. @I need to copy and paste the ping @CoderDrag0n8 @Argenti @Spark of Hope @Kaladin Stormcursed @TwinStorm @Just A Silvereye
  11. “Interesting.” “Hm indeed.”
  12. “I am guessing at the order behind the Chaos. I am guessing why you people appeared to me, sent by Chaos. And I am guessing what possible purpose you could serve.” “I do not serve chaos, for that brings death. I merely try to take advantage of it.” ”It’s an old title. The most relevant thing is my saving of a man known as the Tyrant.”
  13. “No, not an Agent of Chaos, whatever that is. The tides of Chaos. Surely you must have seen the flames?” His door opened, and he was brought among the others. The woman looked around, counting. “I believe there is one left.”
  14. The woman overseeing the guards watched him, amused. “I am known as the Healer. I am doing this because of a whole load of guesswork.”
  15. “You people,” she said with a wave of her hand. “Brought to me by the tides of chaos.”
  16. “I am not fond of repeating myself, so we shall wait until all the Branded have arrived.” She placed a strange emphasis on the word, as if it were a title.
  17. “You will not be getting out of here, I’m afraid. Unless it’s through me.” A woman, taller than the dwarves, stepped into the hallway, inspecting the prisoners as they exited their cells. “I have a task for you. Perform well, and I might just let you out.”
  18. He finds them gone! A guard pulls him out of the cell, bringing him in line with @TwinStorm and @Spark of Hope
  19. That’s kind of difficult, as he’s in a cell.
  20. I think Anti-Light has long been the mechanic behind splintering, or any diminishing of power in a shard. If a Shard goes against their intent, it might create a small mote of Anti-Light, barely (if at all) noticeable. But if they are under direct attack, violated in a way that forces them to counter their Intent, Anti-Light is formed, and it hurts them deeply. Like - Ambition immediately being attacked by Odium might have violated the Intent, and Odium used that against Ambition. This is a stretch, but I’ve been thinking that Odium’s immediate attack would have made him a better candidate in the eyes of the power than the actual Vessel. Then when Honour and Odium clashed, Odium was always quick to goad him into direct confrontation, even though he had promised not to. I know I’m stretching - but this theory really comes from Newton’s first law. Put simply, the important part is, “an object in motion stays in motion.” To stop something, to stop its movement, you need to present force and energy directly counter to its movement. I think it’s similar here - to uninvest something, no matter the means, it’s presenting investiture directly counter to the original. This, I think, is reinforced by how easily the scientists switched their machine from investiture to anti-investiture (calling it Negative Investiture - and I made sure to check that it was in fact Anti investiture, I think they mention that like… a few time? Dunno), suggesting a fluidity that would support this.
