Hhhmmm perhaps the deity promised that it would make other people see the dragon or smt along those lines? The deity, which takes the form of a disembodied voice for now, promises you something at the end of the pilgrimage. What do you want that to be? Ok Is there a reason for you to not just… desert? The deity would promise you smt.

Okay this RP is one I thought would be interesting. Coder might recognize it, but it has other influences toooooo. It’s got a story (don’t worry I can’t abandon that), but its focused on progression of players. Its going to be structured in stages, getting progressively more challenging. At the end of the stage, a “nameless” deity will offer you a variety of powers, from which you will pick one. Setting will be a moderately temperate, warmer/more humid place. You’ll be trekking a little bit, so this will change. It’ll be vaguely eastern. Before this, your character was marked as heretic for one reason or another (you can come up with that), and was forced on the Pilgrimage. You have some reason for going on the pilgrimage other than being forced, which involves a mysterious voice promising you something (up to you) as a reward for your pilgrimage. Character sheet or not, you can choose youll start with a choice between three powers in the actual rp, but create them without magic

He seemed to be in great pain, kneeling and out of breath as soon as the one guiding him left. Ann scampered over to Nikolas, looking at his face, which was slightly burnt. “I think it’s him! Is it him?” The grey man, Death, was speaking silently with one of those in charge. The one who claims to be Death… is not Death. But his purpose is good. There is only one way that man can be healed. You can call me Ember. I’m… not here right now. It’s a long trek, and unlike “Death” there, I can’t teleport through the Winter.

He was indeed a child of this manor, but early in his life, their sole vehicle was attacked by a bear, with him and the Servant Ann within. I saved them, though they may not know it. Ann, unable to return to the manor, raised him as her brother, but as stores of coal ran out, she was forced to join the Masks for their protection. Nikolas did the same. And then, Ann was killed by the Masks, because she was unwilling to take down a mark. I am not sure who the mark was, but I have light suspicions.

Hopefully. Right now, the warmonger is spreading rumors in a reincarnated body that he was the one to slay… himself. He’s setting himself up as a white knight, and, in the short term, I want to use Nikolas to offset that before it gets out of hand. And in the long term, Nikolas will be an example. But he’s dying. I managed to heal him from the worst of his wounds, but he needs help - he needs the Benefits of being a Servant, like you had so long ago. And like your bard. Can you contact the other grey folk, help argue my case?

Last time Jakob had a “son,” Jakob had to execute him personally. He became known as a vicious warmongerer. And right now, that son is back, spreading rumors that will in no way help his pain. I want to show him that his power, his intervention, it can help, not just hurt. And it starts by saving these people.

Or, you can take the trek to their destination, which was recently taken by the Masks.” He hesitated. “Both are rather unpleasant at the moment, but there is not much of an alternative.” He stepped towards Nikolas, wrapped in a blanket and staring blankly. “If you’ll excuse me, I need to find a healer.” The two stepped into the night, quickly disappearing from sight. [In the main hall] The doors to the main hall burst open in a gust of wind, revealing two figures. A loud voice echoed out. ”I am Death, and I bring with me my son.
