  1. First let me say that I have LIVED everything Brandon has ever put out. And after Skyward came out and I finished it, I was sure that he did it again as that book is one of my favorites of his. Book #2 then released and I was a bit disappointed somewhat (I still liked it, don't get me wrong) but then again I think I had unrealistic expectations due to my love of Skyward. Then book #3 arrived and it was definitely the first book of his that I absolutely thought was just...well, not very good at all. Not even relative to that of his other books, or those in the Cytoverse, but just weak, non-sensical and kinda ridiculous. The novels followed the same path with the first 2 being pretty good and then we get to Evershore and Jorgen Weight. So, why does he have his own book? Being Cytonic out of the blue isn't enough to make him interesting, likeable or enough to keep him from having the personality of a bland bedroom curtain. In fact, I expect they gave him cytonic abilities because they decided his character would be the main characters love interest and they realized that would never happen in a million years with how they decided to write him. I don't see the appeal as he isn't leadership material, has to be dragged kicking, screaming (and ALWAYS whining) into the correct path by those around him when he initially decided on the opposite of whatever said path is. He doesn't inspire confidence, and is quite frankly both boring and annoying. Chapter 14 of EVERSHORE is a prime example of these qualities along with the whining. And I kinda felt that with the depth and uniqueness Sanderson has always given his creations, that's what's happening with the Cytoverse as they continue. A percentage of the people are not up to his amazing standard and are more plug and play. And writing Evershore, giving Jorgen the lead was weak. He should've remained villainous like the first half of book 1 because he definitely is unlikeable and trying to redeem him in order to make him the love interest without giving him any actual redeemable qualities is bizarre. It's like they made the nonsensical decision to replace those with Cytonics thinking that was enough. Ok, now he just has a power out of nowhere but he's still annoying, unlikeable, uninspiring and a poor leader. Poor Spin must be desperate.
