Thanks for the feed back, but couldn't Adonalsium have used the other shards? Adonalsium would have been shattered with the others (twice each) making 16 shards. It's independent of the original number of Dawnshards. Thanks again for the feedback.

Preamble: I don't frequent these forums very often so I don't know if this is a common theory, way of base or partially on track, so I would love any corrections. Also, I don't think there are any plot sensitive spoilers, so I'm not blotting anything out. Theory Adonalsium is a Dawnshard I have heard various takes on the Dawnshards as being primal commands that shape the Cosmere, of which we know of Change and Exist and 2 more, presumably intact, but as of yet unrevealed Dawnshards. The way I read the general themes of the Cosmere points to Adonalsium being a 5th Dawnshard for some command like "Live," "Know," or "Experience" who over time gained sentience based on the impulse of its intent just like its Shards do when left unbonded. Reasons I see this as true 1)The Venacular: Everyhing is called Shards. Furthermore when a Dawnshard or Shard of Adonalsium is held their vessels take share their identity. 2) Concepts of Intent: When Adonalsium is broken apart (presumably twice) the resulkting shards are intents the form its whole. The Dawnshards also seem to be concentrated intents. While the Adonalsium Shards are not verbs like the Dawnshards seem to be, they could be intents that direct, provke or motivate the original intent verb. In other words, if Adonalsium had been some intent like "Live," "Experience," etc. once shattered the composite elements of that command, while not actions themselves. 3 Spontaneous Sentience: When objects with very high amounts of Adonalsium investiture are given time and a purpose they seem to develop sentience which seems to grow. We've seen this with weapons, a machine, and we've heard and seen hints of it with an unbonded Shard of Adonalsium. I therefore propose that its own investure and intent could have sparked its own sentience. Other thoughts A possible reason it willingly let the 16 future shards + Hoid and Frost shatter it with its sibling Dawnshards could be that it lacked understanding of its nature and it actually lives on in those smaller shards and shares in the experience, similar to how other bonded entities in the Cosmere live shared experiences through bonds strengthening its own intent in the process through those lived experiences. I don't remember how much we've learned about the deceased shards of Adonalsium, but as echoes of their powers continue on in places like Sel, Threnody and the Emberdark, I suspect it is more of a change of form than a loss of net Investeture, just like when Adonalsium was split or the Dawnshards were presumably split from their original form into their current form. Or it could be that they stopped at 16 because any further could have made monsterous white skyscraper-tall messes.

Ha! I'm on your antipode! As a lore lover, what's your favorite Cosmere culture you've read about stylewise?
-
Um, sounds like a real barn burner idiomatically and literally. I'm sticking to mine though. I'm pretty sure you could swap Dalinar with Taravangian, invite him into and get a similar result. So just make vague references to characters then? Is there a moratorium on some of the older or more well known books? Good choice, though I made the decision to age her up a bit since she partiues can run late and there could be alcohol involved -especially given the other guests. I'll try to give it a read then.

Nope, no instruments. Sorry for the Bland response but that's one of the blandest parts of my personality ...

Err, yea not a big spoiler, but sorry either way. I hid it in the off chance someone else finds their way to it. What's the Spoiler policy on this sight? Yea, Hoid and the Lopen don't vibe well with others imo so ad to check them at the door. Design could be a stand in for number 6 though. She's got the right funny create your own character vibe.

Alright so for "party" I'm imagining a night on the town during some Spanish style fiestas. 1) (An aged up) Lift 2) Wayne 3) Adolin 4) Lightsong 5) Blushweaver 6) aaaand (IotED spoiler) Think that looks like a well balanced group of fun loving characters who are easy going enough not to get into any real conflicts, but lively and diverse enough to make for a fun, ever changing dynamic. Kinda bums me out that I can't go out with them now that this thought experiment got the idea working its way through my imagination.

I read the physical books when I can but who's got space to lug a hardcover or even an e-reader around in our daily routine? Meh, I felt a bit sour about them when the hard covers showed up at a lower price point in book stores shortly after here in Europe, but now I've settled on the opinion that they build hype and a week and a half is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. HAHAHA! IDK if I've got time for that! Why's there no scroll bar on the right? I'll try to give it shot though ... is their an audio option? She's like a puppy who put loads of points into head

Yeah, Sanderson dragons seem to be a cool enough take on the genre. I am a bit surprised they seem to only come in the Yolen variety since humans and other humanoids seem to have no problem with convergent evolution over various worlds. He was good enough. I think that Sanderson kept the character fresh enough through the second age, though I know he grated some people the wrong way. What I thought was kind of neat about Wayne and Wax was that Wax seemed for all the world to be a Batman figure, while Wayne was the one who possesed his alter ego's name. Yeah; I had to e-book read Isles of the Emberdark in corners at off moments regularly to get through the book and I'm pretty sure I missed some important details becaise of it. I'm definitely going to give it another "read" through now that the Audio book is out and I have a long drive to Celsius 232 next week. Hey, not bad! Nope, that would be a lamb. Her mother rejected her so we had to bottle feed her.

Hey, Drew here. Originally from upstate NY, currently living in a remote corner of the Basque Country. I was brought to the Cosmere by my brother bit by bit over the course of years. Sith of the Dusk, the original, standalone, is my favorite Cosmere story. I started reading paperback back versions and thought audio books were for long commuters and the lazier side of society, but since catching up to the more recent works which are only in hardcover and becoming a dad I have come to find I can only keep up with everyone else by listening to audio books as I do chores and exercise. I’m going to the tail end of Celsius 232 this year and would love to meet up with any other World hoppers from around the world.

Dragonsteel in Spain 15-19 July - Celcius 232
Lagundu replied to Custodis's topic in Events and Signings
My experience was a real rollercoaster ride. I got clued into the signups via Brandon's weekly update and then spent all Thursday (I live in Europe) with my eye on the Eventsbrite website waiting for the event to go up. I managed to get a lightning signing for Saturday and was very happy ... until I got the e-mail saying they canceled all of the reservations because people had been abusing the system. I wrote an e-mail and figured I would have to wait until Monday since Dragonsteel employees have Holidays (4th of July) and weekends off. I woke up on Saturday to find it was back up and completely booked and felt crushed. I kept checking back on the sight to see if there were any changes and eventually the event disappeared. Now I just got a response to my e-mail with instructions to get in. Hopefully you'll get one too, but if you don't I'll let one of you guys in with mine assuming they are transferable in person. I do really want to go to the signing, but it doesn't look as though I have as much invested (no pun intended) in this trip as you guys do. -
Dragonsteel in Spain 15-19 July - Celcius 232

I'm planning on going to Celsius 232 but have seen little to no info on what to do to make sure I get to make it to a signing. In this week's Weekly Update Brandon mentioned that there would be some sort of signup for signing starting today, Thurday, but I can't see where. Does anyone know anything about what's going on? Any direction would help.
