  1. Disclaimer: This topic is based on two, partially three assumptions about Era 3 of Mistborn. Whether they are likely or not to happen is beyond the scope of the thread, since I would like to focus on what would happen if they were true. I can very well be entirely wrong about one or more of these in which case this topic will be rendered obsolete. The first assumption is that the fan-theory about Harmony will turn into Discord thanks to the imbalance between the shards. The second assumption is that this transformation will be either consciously or subconsciously well known enough that people will at least have a vague knowledge about it. The third assumption is that, even if it does interest me personally on a linguistic level enough for me to make this topic, for this topic to be relevant cosmere-wide, that one way that worldhoppers and such can be identified is how they swear, and that stays true in the future of the cosmere. With all that out of the way, my questions are as follows: If Harmony becomes Discord, will the old in-world swearword of "Harmony" be replaced by a/multiple new swearword(s) regarding Discord? Will the old swearword(s) still be used alongside the new ones? Which ones will be more commonly used and/or which will be the harsher ones?
  2. I got a very general theory about the endings of the back half of Stormlight Archive that I can’t find anybody else talking about. Very general spoilers for the tone and some of the details (and I don’t mean the rhythms talked about throughout the books) of the endings of Stormlight 1-4 ahead, I’ve only read the preview of the prologue of Stormlight 5. In short my theory is that the tone of the endings is in itself a very loose palindrome/ketek. the emphasis on tone and rhythm in Stormlight Archives might be related or might not be. So the tone of the ending from the first book matches the tenth and last book, in my opinion a mostly locally happy ending, especially for our protagonists with some ominous hints of something in the future that we aren’t really sure about when we read it. The second book’s ending matches the ninth, in other words a small victory with the “good” side emerging fairly unscathed and with new resolve and powers but with costs and the “evil” side having unleashed its powers. The third book matches the eighth, a large, both morally and strategically, victory for our protagonists with a solidification of several advantages and a plan for the future from the antagonist to make up for what has happened. The fourth book matches the seventh, with the protagonist stabilizing and having won the day but the antagonists seeming to prepare to win the war and having learned a lot. Finally the fifth book matches the sixth, whatever the ending looks like in that book. Late edit: I completely forgot, it could also be that the beginning of the sixth book matches the ending of the fifth, the ending of the sixth matches the beginning of the fifth and so on. Sorry about that. What do you guys think? I’m willing to admit that I’m wrong in my interpretations of the endings and this might all be very subjective and general, but the important part is that I’m guessing that the tone of the endings of the first half matches the endings of the second half but backwards and what I’ve written down is just my interpretation and example of how it could be. Have I missed something obvious or has Brandon taken this up somewhere already.
  3. Thank you everyone. as for the questions: Not really sure but anywhere with a good library, some nice paths to walk around and some good views to see would be a good start. Kharbranth perhaps? Harmony, character-wise. Devotion and Dominion power-wise for the variety of powers available.
  4. Hi, just a fairly average book, videogame and anime nerd who loves reading Sanderson here. I've read Stormlight 1-4, Mistborn era 1-2, dragonsteel prime, way of kings prime, Tress, Sunlit, Yumi, Elantris, White sand, warbreaker, all short novels in Arcanum and I got the Mistborn adventure game and liked building characters with it. (outside of cosmere I've read Reckoners 1 and Dark one). I felt I needed to discuss more Cosmere and I finally decided to make an account here. Have a theory I'm currently writing on and planning on posting in an appropriate forum when it's done. Looking forward to discussing Cosmere here and hope that I enjoy my time here.
