  1. The blob isn’t speaking to him, the translator is. It talks in [square brackets] and, although neither vary their tone much and both come from the speaker, sounds different than the blob’s statements. The translator repeats the statement in English, then relays them to the blob. “Yes. This is because I was exploded. I lost some ability to think.” “[Good. I will now list common words. Say them three times in your language to provide a sample for natural tone variation. If at any time you are confused, say you are confused.]” The translator then proceeds to do so, listing useful words for Timothie to translate.
  2. Alvar considers chasing him, but decides against it. Instead, he runs back to the wagon, coming up behind the man with the club. “If you do not surrender, I can and will kill you.” he calls out, not bothering to wait for an answer as he rakes the barbed blade across the bandit’s side, leaving ice shards embedded in his skin.
  3. “[Good. Please repeat ‘I am confused’ three times.]” The blob is just sitting there, listening to you talk to their translator.
  4. Duck salutes, then points to you, then at his beak, then the other geese, then shrugs. Translation: Duck begins to honk at the other geese. “These humans show signs of sympathy towards our cause. We should leave them alive to use as spies.”
  5. “[Thank you. Please repeat the word for no three times.]” “[Please use cognates to circumlocute your intended message or any needed words. Repeat the word you need three times after explaining it.]”
  6. Alvar drops his herbs and flicks his wrist, opening the water nozzles. He dashes towards the archer in an erratic pattern, a serrated ice blade freezing into existence. The archer needed taking out.
  7. Duck is a goose named Duck. He flaps over, giving a poor imitation of a thumbs up.
  8. Alvar is sweeping the woods on the side of the woods for monsters. He’s unlucky, however, and is on the wrong side. He has found a juvenile forest slime digesting a fallen log (he killed it - those things get out of hand fast when they reach maturity), some edible roots, and some herbs he’s pretty sure are ingredients for healing potions. Walking back to deposit his gains, he freezes at the tree line upon seeing the bandits. Alvar waits; he’d rather capture the bandits or run them off, but best to see what the plan is before starting conflict.
  9. Duck puts his wings above his head, then points down the alley, puts a wing to his beak, then stomps forward exaggeratedly. Translation:
  10. “[If you share some vocal range or cognates with English, please repeat the phrase. If this is a prank, stop. It’s not funny; it is a waste of time to play practical jokes on translator AI. If this is somehow a misunderstanding, repeat your query to a sapient or a more sophisticated AI, assuming you understand this.]”
  11. Duck honks grumpily, angry that the swans and Highgeese would put him on patrol duty. He had managed to talk to a human, and they were pretty nice, if there weren’t any misunderstandings. But no, they had to conquer the humans. He surreptitiously waddles away from the patrol group, looking for something better to do.
  12. “[fourth language detected. If this is not the case, say so. If you possess knowledge of English but are physically unable to speak it, say ‘yes’ in your native language three times.]”
  13. “Maybe. I see things, but not the same as you. Real alive things, like me, plants, the sky, or the tools the other not-alive people use, I see best. The top of you is a little alive, but the rest is not. Food and things that are like food, but I cannot eat are next. Then other things, like food that has been eaten, or most of you.” The blob goes silent for a moment. “Do you need food right now? I also need food to not stop moving - it is very bad when that happens - but right now, I need an alive plant, or the food ground.” “This is a strange thing. It is a little alive, but I do not know how to make the tool node for talking to not alive people eat it.” “[I do not have this word on file. Please repeat, then explain its meaning.]” Says the black speaker node the blob has been carrying around.
  14. "The other not-alive people called me a Ferrian Rust Swarm. I am from a place they call Ferria, where there is more food for me." "Yes. The plant from the not-alive people - the ones with the alive flying things and the not-alive alive clothes - does not give me enough food. It needs a thing - like life, but strange. [electricity]"
  15. "I said I cannot see it. I am confused." They pull the two metal objects further down into themselves. "Do you need food too? Or do you have more memories?"
  16. "I could not eat that. It is hard to see." The knife sticks to their nodes, and some move to cover it. Visible beneath the one layer of dodecahedrons (eh, close enough), it begins to crumble to rust. The blob takes that as well. "Thank you. And you."
  17. "Iron. It is mixed with things in plants." Indeed, the nodes of the blob are rust colored.
  18. The blob shrinks back from the fighting. "What are you doing? Do not be like copper demons!" They wander off to look for food. @J. Magi "Do you have food?"
  19. Cole hurries off, and comes back with a bundle of cloth, rope, and sticks. "I suppose so. Speaking of which, do any of you know how to sew. Better than I can, I mean."
  20. “I know! I’m sorry. Make it stop; I’ll do what you want.”
  21. “Why did you throw away the food? I will need to forget, soon, if I do not get any.” The blob points towards you while talking to you, leaning a bit in your direction.
  22. “I have some fabric at my shop; I was making a tent for someone, so it should be warm. I’m not the greatest at sewing, though.” Cole walks off to go get his fabric. “Why should I follow your instructions, anyway, burnt man? You’re not real.” @SpiritOfWrath
