“You have revival magic and use it for this? What sane person would… oh, right.” Veer ‘hits’ the ball back.

Picking it up by a spike, Veer throws it into the air. It’s still not going especially fast, but it’s still a decent rate as it crosses the net. “How are you planning to survive your death, anyway? It’s not like you’re a dragon or something.”

“I serve now, right?”

“What the? How?” Nick runs forward, moving much faster than he could have before his transformation, and tries to distract the sound in the gate. His armor is ready to protect against cutting and bludgeoning, but the heat of the lava may burn through it. A spiked pickleball drops from the sky near him, and he hurls it at the creature, but it disappears before it connects.

“Smart…” Veer sends the ball back, trying to hit the hand with the paddle.

“Mistake.” says Veer as the ball, still moving at eighty miles per hour, changes direction and speeds towards Gemini.

Veer sends it back, but it doesn’t make it over the net. The algae begins to flake off, dormant now that the lava has cooled. He walks over, picking up the ball and wincing at the heat, then tosses it over to Gemini.

Hmmm. Wonder where that went… not like it could be another RP or anything… Veer’s eyes grow wide, and he bounces the ball off the ground, leaving a scorch mark, then has an idea. He sends it into the kitchen and whacks it around repeatedly, then sends it over to Gemini so he can serve it. The lava does seem to be cooling down quickly as the volcano algae feeds off the heat, but it’s still going to hurt to touch.

The tossed ball drops, bounces, and lands perfectly in Veer’s hand. “Thank you. My serves aren’t working great, though. Hmmm.” Veer whips the ball into the air as fast as he can. It bounces diagonally down, then up again and over the net, moving much faster now.

The ball, well, veers around Veer’s head, not slowing down. When it reaches the net, it sharply drops, going towards the ground. (That’s three hits, and maybe some out of bounds-ing as well.)

"I don't know what that would mean, but lets play - I think I'll find out." Veer puts on the circlet, tosses the spikey ball high into the air and "serves" it by changing which way it's moving, waiting until it almost hits the ground before it changes direction, shooting diagonally upward again. It crosses the net, going in the general direction of Gemini at a rather slow speed (his whole thing is not being able to add kinetic energy to an object, so maybe he's being a little cocky).

"It was a gift. It grants magical proprioception, so I can use my powers more precisely. I'd thought it would be cheating, but the net seems to be blocking it somehow, and you have that uh... thing."

He cracks his knuckles, then pulls out his spellsteel circlet. "I have this."

Veer looks at the wall, and all of them start hovering. One spiked pickleball bounces its way toward him. "I don't need a paddle."

Nick transforms more of the gate to diamond, allowing him to take a material he has lots of (carbon and heat), and exchange it for a material he has none of (iron). He bows and walks back to where he started, waiting for the others, while recreating his wing struts with diamond.

Veer follows. “Huh. How do we get a court?”

“Maybe I should have knocked…” Shutting down the ferrophage microbes, Nick puts a patch on the hole, reinforcing it until his other microbes can put it back together. “I can do diamond… yeah, put it back as diamond, SIMON.”

Nick swears in Vvondin (which, with a human mouth, is kinda difficult). “There’s already an ecosystem here. That’s not good. Hey sky people! If you actually care, you might want to get rid of the volcano algae stuff after I leave.” Volcano algae climbs up the gate, at his request. Then, he touches the moon crystal to the exposed area he left, and performs several sequential exorcisms, pulling heat out of the grate. Then he presses his palm to the gap, releasing oxidation microbes inspired by Ferrian life. If the grate can get rusty, it begins to do so at high speeds.

“Oh yeah? I bet if I die I can give you money.” “On for both bets. Do you know how to get there?”

“That’s a stupid bet; you can’t give me money if you die.”

“Honestly, now I’m curious. I wonder what the rules are for gifts and spellsteel items are.”
