  1. I’m finally done! Please look up my user article on the coppermind for what it would look like: User:Nightstar The Bright Boy are you in for a ride. There is so much information. Just… Yes. Well I did exactly that, please feel free to write any critique you have here. I would like to ask you not to edit anything on that page yourself however. I tried not to go too much into the politics of the religion, but Hallandren is a theocracy, so it was a little hard to separate the political from the religious parts.
  2. Some pages on the coppermind (T'Telir and Kalad's Phantoms for example) use ' instead of a regular apostrophe ‘. This really messes with my head, because anytime I try and make a link to these pages it doesn’t work because I use a regular apostrophe. I also can’t seem to find this special apostrophe, leading to me having to copy and paste it every time. Is this special apostrophe somewhere in the book? Because I couldn’t find it. If not then can it be fixed?/shall I fix it?
  3. That could work well. Actually lifeless humans work so well because they remain some of their humanity (they have a brain)
  4. This is said by Lemex in chapter 10: Breath, Princess,” he said. “I inherited it from my predecessor, and I’ve bought more. A lot more . . .” God of Colors . . . Vivenna thought with a sick feeling in her stomach. “I know it was wrong,” Lemex whispered. “But . . . I felt so powerful. I could make the very dust of the earth obey my command. It was for the good of Idris! I have just one question, what? Make the dust obey his command?
  5. It should be possible to provide that, although it might take a while The Hallandren page has almost no information or the Iridescent Tones, I would make a new page with all the new information and edit the Hallandren page to be about the Iridescent Tones’s role within Hallandren (Returned etc) I will be sure to do that!
  6. In the current version of the coppermind the Iridescent Tones are simply a part of the Hallandren page. This is weird as all the other religions on the coppermind have their own page. We have a lot of information about the Iridescent Tones, so it wouldn’t be a one sentence page, In all honesty I don’t really see why it doesn’t have its own page. It is heavily connected to Hallandren, but not so heavily that it must absolutely be part of that page. Any counter-arguments?
  7. That’s true of course, but it is widely accepted that awakening is a magic system, same with Allomancy and feruchemy. It could be argued that these are actually a gathering of multiple magic systems. Once again, all up to you, though this is unclear, do you consider a basic lashing to be an invested art, or gravitation or surgebinding as all manipulate investiture. What I’m proposing here is that awakening is not actually it’s own magic system, kind of like how most people don’t call a basic lashing a magic system. It seems to me that Heightenings are indeed simply passive effects, rather then part of my grand magic system. What I’m proposing is that most of the uses we’ve seen (awakening/storing memories/returning the cs to the body) is simply the same invested art used a little differently (like regrowth and regular growth from progression.) The WoB isn’t on the arcanum yet, you can find it on the Cosmere Reddit page. A Divine Breath does do this, but the WoB says that this can be done with regular breaths, although the cs will escape again. I assumed it was like with Lightweaving that awakening is a broad term for awakening objects to ‘life’. This can indeed be done with other types of investiture. But I thought that Nalthian awakening can only be done with breath, otherwise you’d simply be doing another type of awakening with the same effect. My theory doesn’t suggests that Breath are a magic system, but that there is a grand magic system that simply works by commanding breath to do certain things (sorry if that was unclear.) We know that for removing memories (likely just storing them inside the breath) you need to say a command, and for awakening and this cs stapeling as well. So what if you can just command breath to do bassicly anything. Awakening would be commanding the breath to enter and awaken an object, and give it another/further command (the Nalthians would be doing this subconsciously.) the Heightenings would not be part of this, as they are just passive effects. hope this clears things up a little.
  8. Please explain, she was already travelling through the city for a while, she probably traveled the entire way through the city (from the north to the south) and then a mention was made that she was climbing the southern section (with the court, where she was headed.) That and the fact that the Bright sea is located to the east both in the book and in the map, leads me to believe that the map is north side up.
  9. She does indeed, but why does this mean that Hallandren is on the northern shore, The coppermind tells us it’s on the western side, the map of T’Telir also shows us this, though the sea could be shaped a little weird and the map would still work. Again, how? Bevalis is likely to be at a high altitude (even though it’s located in a valley) but time doesn’t indicate height. Hallandren lies in the west, therefore Tedradel lies in the east. Now I do agree with this, but I have the feeling Idris is way larger then the Alps. But I mean, they sailed from the opposite side, now it might just be me but if the bright sea is really the size of the Caspian Sea it’s a little unlogical they only discovered it with that level of technology, looking at our world in the Bronze Age the Mediterranean was very connected and multiple societies traded, went to war etc, while this doesn’t indicate that the sea is larger, I still think it unlikely that a sea the size of the Caspian Sea took so long to get crossed. Also the Chedesh are mentioned as ruling the world, it would be a little weird to say that if their empire only encompassed part of the Caspian Sea, which wouldn’t make a very large empire, though still decent. Yeah I read this as well and was so confused, but it’s still possible if like you said Hallandren is on the northwestern or southwestern side of the sea. If these animals live in the same kind of environment/latitude as they do in our world, Hallandren and the bright sea would be located basically at the equator, making the land south of Hallandren (or just southern Hallandren) Savannah climate ish.
  10. I propose that awakening isn’t actually its own magic system, but rather BioChromatic breath is one, with awakening simply being an aspect. Breath has many uses, the most known use is awakening, but it can also be used to store memories and according to a question from dragonsteel 2023 (posted on reddit) breath can also be used to return a cognitive shadow to a body, although it won’t actually stay there. So what if Biochroma is it’s own system, and all of these functions are aspects of it, to use breath one only needs a command, intent, and perhaps color. If this theory is correct you could use breath for a lot more things.
  11. No it doesn’t explain, but it’s not likely to be weeks of marching, otherwise they wouldn’t be in ‘striking distance’ but nonetheless your right that we don’t know much, but I think it’s unlikely T’Telir is located in the south of Hallandren. I just wanted to know if there was any information about it in the book, turns out there isn’t. Thanks.
  12. I found that Idris has garrisons in striking distance of T’Telir. Also, apparently T’Telir is closer to the lower farms of Idris then Bevalis. This suggests that T’Telir is in the North don’t you think?
  13. Like the title suggests, where are T’Telir and Bevalis located (within their respective nations)? Is there anything within the books that hints at locations?
  14. Lifesense can’t actually manipulate things, we don’t know whether or not you could sense them at these levels, it’s more likely however that at the ninth heightening you have enough raw power to affect these ‘dead’ objects. I agree with you, as I said before, perfect Lifesense is a little weird, because you can’t actually sense everything alive. Nonetheless, some people would have realised that they were able to sense more with more breath, so I doubt that that is it. Intent might play a role here, but I don’t see why it has to, it could just cap at a certain threshold of investiture, like I said before, therefore you can’t sense anything with investiture below the threshold, and the ‘perfect’ might be an in-universe error. The lichen could have investiture above the threshold, although Vasher just doesn’t have enough breath to feel them. This way he could lament that he can’t feel them, but that he could if he had more breath.
  15. Nanomedicine is bassicly regular technology, used in the medicinal fields, but small, like very very small. Soooo, really small objects/robots. Now awakening has some good potential in this field, give it some good commands and sure it will search for cancer cells and eliminate them! All you need is good visualisation of what needs to happen. Awakening could do great things in this field, eliminating cancer, treating certain sicknesses etc. Awakening could also be used to create or manage certain things within the body, basically micromanaging your body’s functions and abilities. ‘Oh your stomach isn’t a good environment for this specific type of bacteria that breaks down your food? We’ll replace that for you!’ The only large downside I can think of right now is that it will cost a lot of breath, and breaths simply aren’t that easy to gather. What do you guys think?
  16. I took this to mean that the more breath, the more Lifesense, all the way until it caps at the fourth Heightening. Where does he note this? The quote you gave only says that he could do it with enough breath not necessarily intent. Lifesense may only be able to sense investiture above a certain threshold, this way it could still be perfect, but Lightsong or Vivenna wouldn’t go crazy.
  17. Yes he likely will be more visible, but he won’t just stop to talk to random people (except maybe on very rare occasions), he’s still a king and has his duties. You are right that he’ll likely travel to Idris soon, and the people will see him, but the common people probably wouldn’t talk to him super much. I think you’ve convinced me, although I do still think it’s a possibility that Idris falls, and Idris will never reach truly great heights without awakening, it’s a real possibility that Idris survives, and even thrives. I must say however that Idris contains the only known copper mines, so Nalthis likely won’t be completely dependent upon them. Nice discussion though, you made me see a few things more clearly, thanks for that.
  18. Why doesn’t the Hallandren military use more lifeless cavalry (both man and horse being lifeless/lifeless man and live horse/live man and lifeless horse) this all seems like it would be a big advantage. Is there a canon reason or not. And if not, can you guys think of good reasons?
  19. Yeah fair. Oh true, thanks That’s sad, isn’t that detectable with bronze, bassicly making Taldain inhospitable for Seekers (the constant pulsing).
  20. Yes, my bad Susebron is a fairly nice person, however I doubt many Idrians, even if they go to Hallandren, get to see him, and they certain wouldn’t get to talk with him, actually seeing what he’s like. So the God King will remain mysterious, though this doesn’t necessarily hinder the Idrians changing their opinions. It does help that Siri is the Queen, though for the far away Idrians this could also be something bad ‘Hallandren took our princess and corrupted her.’ I also agree with your statement that it would still take years, but that relations will start to improve, helped in part by a common ‘enemy’ (Pahn Kahl). My bad, technologies are still exchanged via economics, but I don’t think this will help them with their situation (assuming they still condemn awakening). Other nations will seek to improve relations with Idris, but the nation can still be shattered/a civil war can erupt. A lot of real world examples show us that nations that rely upon military aid to survive (I’m talking about issues like civil war etc, not full scale invasions) don’t tend to do very well, and usually collapse after a period of time. Yes fair, still though, the Idrians aren’t going to change because someone realises that the five visions don’t actually forbid it, they’re probably going to change because they either have to or because they see that what they belief is simply wrong (a lot of the superstition). He certainly does, though I disagree that it’s perfectly logical that a super (resource) rich country like Idris just ignores awakening and still does great Fair point, though the constant reactions of fear and hatred when talking about Hallandren ( at least early in the book) do enhance this feeling. It’s very possible that we over estimate it however, as we only really have 5 ‘fearful’ chapters like this. Yeah, I agree, religions do tend to have a wide range of adherents. there probably have been multiple interpretations and the hatred might very well not be as deep as I think, as said above we really only have a couple chapters of Idris.
  21. While I do agree with you here I think it is weird, it says perfect Lifesense, maybe an in-universe error? That’s fair I suppose, although it does make me wonder whether or not you can sense the charged microorganisms on white sand. If this is possible lifesense would work better on Taldain. Where did you get this information? I don’t remember reading it in the book. Is it in a wob somewhere?
