  1. In honor of my favorite chicken, Nemesis, I am changing my profile picture back to her face to remember her. Is she dead? Not yet... but she probably will be after today. She's like five or six years old and has a weird disease so I don't expect her to live much longer. So... RIP Nemi.

      I'm really sorry 🫂

She really looks cool, from what I can see

Can you tell us about her? Why was she your favourite?

Well, I didn't know Nemi as a chick, but I knew her in her prime, and that's how she got the name "Nemesis". See, we were trying to raise freedom rangers (meat chickens) alongside our laying hens, and I had to keep a close watch on them to make sure they were safe, because meat birds are utter idiots. Anyway, there was this one chicken who just wouldn't leave them alone, and she'd relentlessly attack and peck at them, so I started calling her my "nemesis" for that reason. Finally, I caught this chicken and put her outside where she couldn't reach the meat birds. After that she wasn't really a threat. It's funny how, in old age, some chickens become hardened menaces, while others just become funny little guys. Nemesis was the former, ruthlessly fighting any other hens who thought they were stronger than her.  But, to me, she was really just a funny little guy. She was a little smaller than average, with a funny face you can see on my profile picture, and she liked to be held. One day I noticed something odd about her; she was winning less fights, stumbling around, etc, so I decided she was growing old and brought her up to the retirement coop, where she has lived out the rest of her days peacefully and quietly.
