  1. Cool, I'll check this out. I was looking at some map stuff the other night and wasn't sure what those were so I just moved on. Something that seemed interesting to me when looking at the Map of Roshar was that Roshar kind of looks like an Dragon lying on it's side, or the body of a dead dragon. Maybe just part of the neck and head with the rest of the body being under the ocean. I had read previously that the design of Roshar has something based on some sort of math called a "Julia Set" but I don't know what that is. I kind of see a Dragon though. Gracias. I imagine their relationship being like two criminals that are constantly looking over their shoulder at one another waiting to be double to come. Both of them being stuck in a constant state of paranoia. I'm curious how they'll get along after what happened in WoR w/ Odium. Now that I think about it, that gives me a question about WoR
  2. I haven't done my second listen of RoW yet, but have a feeling a listen to this scene a couple times. Thank you, this WoB basically answers exactly what I was trying to ask. I hadn't seen this before. Great point about the Pursuer, makes me lean towards A Herald needing to die before the lock kicks in. Thank you again, this really answers what I was looking for even further. This is interesting. I was listening to more Oathbringer today and the following stood out to me. It almost seems like the original intent of the Oathpact was as much about preventing the genocide of the Singers/Parshendi as it was about protecting Humans. Now that I understand it better, I take back this comment. Thank you both for the info.
  3. Well that changes my opinion of The Unmade quite a bit. I read the title of a Reddit post stating that Autonomy's color was red and just took it as a fact without digging deeper. I just went to the post to see if the OP had any evidence behind their claim, but they were disproven using one of the same WoBs that alder24 posted. I'll repost it just in case anyone else missed it. Thank you both. Are you saying that Mistborn Era 2 takes place 10 years after Stormlight 5? I misunderstood, I thought it took place between 5 and 6 but that we didn't know how big the gap between 5 and 6 was so it was a little more vague of the time shift. Yes, but I didn't make the connection to Mistborn that you referenced. Never really crossed my mind. I was pretty interested in that "tower" though. My hammer and scalpel reference my not have been the best analogy. I'm aware that he wants to be the only God but I don't know if Autonomy is aware of that. I mean, I assume she has a plan for him too, but she seems more willing to work with others based on her use of Avatars and may be treating him as almost an Avatar while he's useful to her. I don't know if I completely understand how the Shards kill one another, but from how I understand it, Odium doesn't invest/sliver himself or at least limits himself as much as he can, which gives him the upperhand when going toe to toe with other shards who do sliver themselves. My thinking is that Autonomy invests herself in the planets causing the shards of the planet to invest themselves further than they would have otherwise in effort to fend her off. After they've invested themselves to a level that makes the vulnerable to an essentially fully powered Shard, Odium comes in and drops the hammer. Maybe more a hammer and anvil tactic than hammer and scalpel. Excellent point, forgot about that. FMoash Could you explain this further? I haven't read much about this yet and am not making the connections on my own. Thanks all, I appreciate the feedback.
  4. Does anyone know of a post that has a detailed breakdown and/or some WoBs about the mechanics of the Heralds and the Oathpact? From what I understand, when humans first came to Roshar, the Fused couldn't be permanently killed so Heralds were created as a way to lock them on Braize, but the Heralds had to go to Braize in order to keep the Fuzed from returning to Roshar. In order to get the Fused on Braize, the Heralds had to kill the Fuzed and during that process some of the Heralds typically ended up dying as well. What I don't understand, is how the Oathpact (originally) keeps the Fused on Braize before one of the Heralds dies and/or goes to Braize. If the Heralds had to be on Braize to lock the Fused to Braise, did one member of the Heralds have to die before any Fuzed could initiate the locking mechanism? Let says that in a perfect Desolation that the Heralds manage to kill all the Fused without any Heralds dying, like a Flawless Victory, do they have to return to Braize voluntarily? If there isn't a Herald on Braize to begin with, would the Fused just keep on returning over and over until one Herald dies? Once on Braize, the torture begins and if a Herald breaks, the game is resets and everyone returns to Roshar and the killing begins again. What does it mean for them to break though? Can they just Uber back to Roshar whenever they feel like it or do they have to do something w/ more intent such as breaking an Oath or swearing an Oath to Odium or something like that? Do they have to... you know... use the ol' Braize Honor Chasm? Also, if the 10 of them can mop up the floor with the Fused on Roshar, how come they don't just whoop ass on Braize for an eternity? Are they weaker over there? Do they have to hold back or something, like if they kill Fused on Braize, do the Fuzed return to Roshar? I'm assuming they get to bring their Honorblades with them as there are only 9 blades left on Roshar. Do the Blades not work over there? I'm assuming the simple answer is that they can't beat the Fuzed without the rest of the humans on Roshar but I don't know that for sure. If they can lock the Fuzed on Braise without one of them dying first, couldn't they just imprison some of them and leave the majority on Braize? Why don't they just try to imprison them on Roshar and then just guard the prison? Seems like it would save them from having to go get tortured. At the very least, the could capture some of the more imprisonable Fused and then let the less captureable ones keep returning and killing them on repeat in the comfort of their own home. Maybe the fused prisoners could just kill themselves to escape prison and the return like some sort of prison loophole? The Oathpact seems like a janky idea to me.
  5. First Post, if I didn't tag anything correctly, I apologize. I did try, I think. Anyway, I'm midway through relistening to Oathbringer and heard something that probably doesn't tie into The Lost Metal but figured I'd ask because I couldn't find anything about it via Google search. In Oathbringer, Chapter 107, The First Step: Dalinar is discussing battle strategies with the leaders of the other kingdoms of Roshar and this quote just caught my attention. Is it possible that there is relationship to army that Marasi sees in The Lost Metal? I realize the colors are reversed, and assume that it is intentional, but I just heard it and couldn't ignore it so I have to ask. I have a strong feeling that I know I'm probably grasping at straws, but I've kind of been doing a lot of research lately and itching to post something. Also, how much free range do I have to spit ball random theories? Should I create a new post for each one or can I just pop off in the replies section to this post? Gracias
