  1. "Maybe I am. I've never really done anything for you, and now I'm a distraction. I should have just stayed..." Dead. He didn't finish his sentence, but the unspoken word hung in the air as his shame mounted. --- "Hardly. I have no dirty secrets. Do you think I have time for that?"
  2. "She seems pretty lost. She also says I'm a problem, and based on her reasoning I'm more of one than she thinks." --- Death was humourless. "I imagine if I had any, I wouldn't tell the likes of you."
  3. He felt a warmth in his chest at the words, and his face reddened. Again. "Thanks. I... What do you think of him? Ashlie said she was hoping you might be able to, uh, get along at first." He emphasized those words, thinking of what she had really said. --- "They probably could be, in an emergency. I haven't tried."
  4. He looked ashamed. "I couldn't really come up with a lie. She knows I'm not from here, and that I know you. I'm sorry, I'm no good at this." --- "The ones that have fully degraded become the mists. At that point, they are subject to my influence."
  5. He entered. "That's alright. Although, she figured out that I wasn't who I said pretty quick. How are you doing?" --- "The worst ones get isolated, the best get room in the castle and decay more slowly."
  6. "Well, I guess it doesn't matter much." He indicated the one nearest him, then turned to the woman. "We go, then?"
  7. "Meet... Right." Well, this could have been worse. --- "You've already pretty much seen it all. Souls about their business, interacting."
  8. "Nice to meet you too. What are we doing here?" --- "Who are you, man?"
  9. TAAron glanced at where Haly had left, but reluctantly followed the group. --- "I don't give tours."
  10. TAAron stood up, but didn't go anywhere. He didn't want to seem suspicious, going to Haly's room... He decided to wait and see where others went.
  11. "Great." TAAron sat or the rest of the feast, wondering where he would go once it ended. Back to the room, maybe?
  12. Well, he doesn't seem too bad... TAAron turned to the woman. "Do you know how long until this is over?"
  13. I'm sure you will. He directed his attention back to Haly and her betrothed. I wonder what they're talking about. He burned tin, enhancing his senses to hear, and flinching visibly at the increased strength of the light. The gate admitted him, and the doors swung open. "What do you want?"
  14. "I'm not... Look, forgive me if I don't want to say to much." And how do you plan on accomplishing your task?
  15. Kill me... so confident. "I've probably said too much. But you should know that Ha- Evalyn isn't exactly helpless."
  16. "Oh, just that you suggested someone who could walk through walls to save her. It's... ironic, I guess."
  17. TAAron coughed, a bit taken aback. "Interesting request."
  18. He turned an even brighter red. You don't know the half of it... "And how does your ability to 'maneuver' change because of that? I though you didn't have a plan anyway."
  19. "Jamming the mechanism? How so?" TAAron frowned. I'm really messing this up...
  20. Well, go on. What's the other purpose?
  21. So that's what this is about.
  22. "Oh. And what could I possibly contribute to that?"
  23. TAAron reddened more. "Right. How are you planning on doing that without inciting conflict?"
  24. "Why is it so important? How are you involved with this?"
