  1. Yes. What should we do now? I don't think there's a hope of recovering my original body.
  2. Tayen just walked, heedless of direction. About an hour later, he returned.
  3. Yes. I promise I will.
  4. I need some time to think.
  5. He pulled away again, then stood up shakily and began to walk.
  6. He didn't respond, and there was a deafening silence.
  7. You should hate me for it.
  8. He pulled away. I gave up.
  9. He opened his eyes, and looked up at her.
  10. Tayen reformed out of the blurry cloud.
  11. A few ripples formed on the surface of Limbo. They hit Tayen, who seemed to solidify ever so slightly.
  12. Don't lie...
  13. You don't... you don't really... His voice faded to a low, staticky hum.
  14. I'm sorry. I love you... Tayen became completely unrecognizable.
  15. Don't deserve... His form continued to blur away, taking on an indistinct humanoid shape.
  16. Helda heard the faintest whisper. ...Failed her. I loved her, and I failed her.
  17. Tayen's form began to blur and flicker.
  18. She merged with an empty shell, devoid of anything but pain. It did not seem to understand.
  19. Tayen lived the the pain, letting it eat at him until he truly wished he could die. He lost all sense of himself, felt his mind begin to slip away...
  20. Tayen's body was dead, and he entered Limbo. Naturally, the pain remained, and it was harder to avoid. He did nothing.
  21. The man sneered at Helda. "Don't think I'm forgetting you. Just let this be a lesson. While your friend here is more resilient than I'd expect, no one is invincible. And any who defy me will pay a price." The axe dropped.
  22. This time, Tayen did not look at her. He felt weak, useless. He was limp as they tied him down, only momentarily screaming and going tense when he felt a particularly intense stab of pain.
  23. The lord was with the guards as they dragged Tayen out of his cell a few hours later. It had grown dark. Tayen felt cuts reopen and broken bones twist. He tried to hold on this time, but found himself slipping away. It hurt so horribly...
